Refurbishing Si 1600 16V

im thinkin about refurbishing my 1600 Si as its done a high mileage and i want to improve its performance and reliability. tomorrow its gettin a gearbox from a low-mileage Si fitted as i gefukked the other one, and im also thinkin about other stuff such as cam replacements and other stuf. does anyone have any good ideas for me to do to improve its reliability and performance without spendin millions, bearing in mind i am only 17 and it is my first car lol

i would suggest give it a good service, replace cambelt, for performance theres not much you can do to the si, apart from induction kit, exhausts,chips. if you want a lot of perforce get a 2ltr.
