Removing Emissions Recirulation Thing?

Postby Percy! on Thu Feb 17, 2005 2:13 am

My Si, has the emissions recirulation thing on the exhaust manifold, I have heard there can be a power gain from removing it?

So what needs to be done? what do I need to plug the holes on the manifold?

Will it cause any MOT emssions problems?

What will the power gain be?

Thanks

we told u how to do that the other night percy and yeah you do get a power gain from it because it doesnt recurculate the carppy gasses that cant get thru your cat it obviously works better if you have a de cat pipe

T'is easy to to remove the Air pulse system apart from being a bit fiddley to get the system from round the manifold and the radiator gets in the way a bit.

o Undo the system from the manifold
o Do the fiddley bit as above
o Put washers and blanking plugs into the manifold and do up tightly
o Then for the vacuum hoses, I chopped it back to near the solonoid and plumbed it back into the inlet manifold.

Seems to work for me and its been like it for ages now.

Part Numbers:

Blanking plugs - FINIS 6732263

Copper Washers - FINIS 1008597

Roger can get them: roger@fordpartsuk.com

HTH :)

This might seem harsh but it is fresh in the tuning section at present. And has been in tech probs too I beleive.
