[GUIDE] Removing rear bushes mk4 and fitting Powerflex
Firstly its so easy to do, so dont be scared!
Losen the rear wheel nuts
get the rear car on axle stands. I had to find a suitable place to put the axle stand as your gonna be workking on the rear axle ( be carefull), and chox the front wheels.
Undo the rear beam mounting bolt that goes through the bush. Only do one side at a time. next get yourself a small chisel type thing (see pic).
All you have to do is bash this little chisel down the side of the bush and the rear beam and the bush will just pop out.
After removing the bush I replaced them with Powerflex replacements.
The Powerflex ones just push in with a little tap from a soft rubber hammer or just use any hammer but not to hit them hard.
My first attempt at removing the standard bushes looked like this and took me nearly two hours
But after a little thinking and a bit of experiential learning, I sussed it out. The tools were about 2 pound from B&Q. It should take no longer than an hour to do both sides if you follow this guide.
Safety first and always make sure you have secured the car before attempting to work under or around a car that is in the air.
