removing superchips?

Postby JayC on Sat Jun 25, 2005 10:15 am

just wondering if you take a superchip off of the xr3i 8v will it mess up the fueling?

my girlfreinds just baught a xr3i and i just found the superchip on the ecu, shes not really fussed about having it on there case she needs to claim and everything, if it comes out would it need remapping?

i dont think whoever fitted it would have had it mapped, but im not entirely sure.

1.6 8v efi, K&N and a janspeed box, and of course the chip on EEC-IV ecu, runs quite nice as it is but seems to be jurkey if you dont give it enought revs pulling off, thats why i wonder about if its been on the RR or not.

any help mucho appriciated

is it a blue superchips one that just plugs onto the ecu?

if so then it will be fine, i did this on my xr2i and it worked perfectly.

yup if you unplug it it will go back to exactly standard, so assuming everything else on the engine is standard all will be well

It will only work properly on the same ecu's as your car. It may not work at all on other cars and could cause damage.
