i got a 1.6s and theres big lanky ugly frickin plastic strips down the side and i wanna remove them without damaging paint or needing respraying, there must be some way of doing it, my car is a light sorta metalic silver so the paint shouldnt be a firmer colour under the strips hopefully. anyone

First of all you have to be confident that your car has had NO paint on it at all, if the arches have been sprayed at some time it will stick out like a sore thumb when you take the strip off (unless they have sprayed the whole lot)
I used a hairdryer and just simply pulled them off, to get the glue off I used Autoglym cutting polish them Autoglym Super resin polish
Good Luck

i took mine off my 1.6s which is written off to see wats under neath for wen i did it to my new car. [ERRR] ever i tried it left 2 faint lines of where the strip used to sit. but wen i did it to my mk3.5 it finished up smooth as. i wudnt do it to a mk3 again unless i had a spray job linned up in the near future :aaah:
