Replacing Front-Door Speakers...

Postby jlonsdale on Sun May 20, 2007 2:16 pm

I've recently ordered some 13" speakers to replace the standard ones in my R Reg (98) 1.3 encore. I'm using the standard ford CD player, but the speakers i've ordered are fairly basic:

Sony XS-F1335
"13cm round shape speakers, 3-way coaxial, 160W peak power, 40W rated power, HOP cone diaphragm"

I'm not certain wether these will be ok to replace the standard one's in the front door using the ford CD player - anyone know if these will be ok? i know there the right size and i've ordered the Autoleads SAK-1505 Ford Fiesta speaker adaptor as well to go with them.

Any help much apprieciated.

Oh, and would a complete idiot (myself) be able to swap them without too much difficulty?

Cheers,
Jamie

as long as they're the right size for the holes and theyre not too deep for the gap it should be fine. Only thing you may need to do is drill new holes for the screws as new speakers dont always tend to line up to the old holes.. or in my case never do

Yep, should be fine. Dead easy to swap. If you want to do it properly buy some 13cm speaker adapters from halfords or something. The alternative is to knock the old speakers out of their plastic surrounds and then fit (glue or screw most likely) the new speakers into them.
