Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
Hi All...
I thought it was time to start a post on my Fiesta. Iv owned her since 2001, it was my second car. she started life as a Xr2i which was near standard apart from the cosy front bumper and a set of Escort S1 alloys when i took her on.. It's had many looks and mod's over the year's but it wasn't till 2006 when i bought a donor FRST that things really started happening. I removed all the running gear stripped, cleaned, painted and reassembled with new uprated parts.. Than it was time for a trip down to Alan Jeffery's for setup on the rolling road, after 2 hours of tuning i had a print out for 220bhp and 222ft lb which i was well happy with..
Next was to strip out the interior and send it down to my Local trimmers (Trim I'll fix it) what a name for a one off leather/alcantara re trim..
It was a mad rush to get it ready for ford fair 2007, which to my surprise she came 2ND in her class, i was over the moon with the result. From then on the mods continued with such things as a show cage, bigger ice install, cosy brakes etc etc..
Here's some pic's of her on show at Ford fair 2009 and how it looked until a couple of weeks ago..
So now the next thing on the list is to take alook at the underside of her, id already had a new offside sill fitted and new rear quarter panel fitted to cure the normal fiesta rust problems then a full resray so knew these should be fine but i had a suspicion that not all was well with the nearside sill so i removed all of the body kit to see what was what and sure enough it was shot so a plan was hatched to restore the complete underside of the car, fit some coilovers and see about getting some Escort cosy alloys on there all in time ready for this year shows..
Which meant that iv been flat out working on her More pic's to come..

A few pic's of the new nearside sill fitted...
Now after being sprayed with body sholts and then sprayed diamond white..
Also gave the drivers side sill the same treatment with the sholts and paint, luckily the sill itself was mint ..

Yes agreed rear splitter now gone was a bit of experiment trying to balance up the low line of the front bumper but i think it looks better without..

Re: Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
Hi All.. Time for along over due update..
Been a hectic few months..
With the thought in mind of fitting some Escort cosworth wheels a session with the arch roller was much needed here's some pic's..
After some careful rolling the lip of the arch was flush with panel, witch was then seam seal to prevent corrosion etc..
Apologies for the bad picture quality, camera on phone was not liking the lighting in the garage..
Next on the list was to start removing all the pipes, fuel tank, suspension parts etc from the under side most of which will be sent off to my local powder coaters..
As you can see there's plenty of rust but this is all im pleased to say on the surface, nothing that a good going over with me sandblaster won't get off down to good clean bare metal
But before this i thought I'd get things covered up, top side of car, bottom of engine bay etc and also get some paint on drive shafts and gear link rods

what you going for? black or white finish on the underside?
looking at them pics of the inner wings, it looks liek you got a couple of small holes there

Trust you jay to spot something
After sand blasting the inner wings the only things i had to do was fill (with mig weld) a couple of area's which had been badly worn away by a set of wheels i had on there a few years ago other then that all was good i just re-seam sealed the panel joints and then sprayed with white body sholts followed by a few good coats of diamond white
Pic's to follow..

Re: Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
Thought about time i updated me thread from last year been some time but lots have been done all of which was done just in time for the 2010 shows.. To follow on from the last update, the underside has been completely sandblasted not the nicest of jobs took me best part of a week but was well worth the effort and was really the only way of making sure the under side was clean before sealing/painting could begin..
After i was happy with the underside several cans of white body sholts where applied along with several top coats of good old ford diamond white.. The results..
Next it was to start fitting all me powder coated items, rear Axel, front cross member, Area six lower arms, Fuel tank etc, etc..
All topped off with a new Mk5 spare wheel carryer and a freshly refurbed frst wheel

Re: Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
i needed a selector arm for my gearbox once, matey came out from out the back with one in hand, said the dust was free prob glad to shift it!
so itsd always nice when they got the bits you need in stock, although rivet nuts can be gor from most places so no biggy if they didnt have them

Re: Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
i dont agree with the bumpers/splitters and bonnet
but its not me taxing it
looks stunning on the mechanicals mate, loving the paint detail underneath!
alot of work for the odd person at a show glancing in the mirrors
should pay off though

Re: Restore Time For Me Fiesta..
Thought i'd put up some pic's of me Escos wheels i had refurbed last year..
Picked these up from a guy who had them on his Mk5 Zetec S, they were in original condition had never seen any paint ect so had the odd mark and ding, weren't to bad but thought while i was doing the rest it would be rude not to get them minted up..
After a good sand blasting..
And after several good layers of original silver and several coats of lacquer..
