restore time!! *UPDATE possibly Astalavista?!*
Re: restore time!! * UPDATE 7/2/10 :) *
well i had a bit of a pants weekend working on the engine, started like this
Dave learning english....
then deciding he needed a bit of a chalenge by droping a head locating dowel into the oil gallery down into the sump.
me being unusualy patient yesterday, i managed to get the dowel out without taking the sump off
hopefull engine will go in this sunday, fingers crossed for the weather being better (like today would be nice!)

Re: restore time!! *UPDATE 7/2/10 :) *
wednesday after learning how to use the mickey mouse torque wrench, i torqued down the head and set up the timing of the engine. Fitted new inlet manifold and exhaust manifold studs to the studs which were missing. Fitted new oil filter.
Set cylinder No 1 to TDC... then turned the cam till cylinder 1 & 4 valves were shut and 2 & 3 valves were open.
while i was teaching gav all about how a engine works he came up with a genius idea of labelling the head bolts tightnening sequence.
Made it alot easier
it was a team effort in the end

Re: restore time!! *UPDATE 7/2/10 :) *
engine went in today.
this is the 2nd and last time i ever work on a fiesta with abs
total nightmare ... had to disconnect all the brake pipes from the reservoir and master cylinder to the abs pumps either side of the gearbox.
We took off both arm carriers and left the drive shafts in the gearbox to avoid taking off the bloody belts.
All bolted back in

The engine Lives !
fired up and was running 1st time upon turning the key.
primed the turbo 1st and made sure the oil was puming up to the lifters and feed pipe.
bolted rocker cover down and finished the last few bits.
just got a few water leaks to sort and bleed brakes then its road test time.
