Re: restore time!! *UPDATE 21/3/10 its alive!*
big one yes.
i remember rubbing down the old crap off the crank nose with scotch brite pad.
the crank seal supplied by ford has now changed to a different design from the old type with a lip.
they have a kinda fabric inner seal with no spring like the old one ???
think a pattern part seal will do the job better but of course gearbox out again

Re: restore time!! *UPDATE 21/3/10 its alive!*
well was an eventfull 4 day easter break, was great driving the fiesta again
poxy oil leak from the crank seal, didnt stop me doing 150 city miles in it, just hope i havent contaminated the clutch
got pulled by pc plod after 5 miles on my first journey to my shop in kings cross, just making sure i didnt nick it also commenting ''wow dont see any of these around anymore!''
then againa couple of days later with exactly the same comment first then they were curious how the nitrous system works etc and didnt seem to beleive my acceleration times so i simply showed them the mag feature i had in the car another good laugh i had with them.
before this i havent been pulled over in 4-5 odd years!
passed mot on monday, no probs there as usual
done 200 miles so far, not long to go so getting it booked into m-tec for a setup and sorting crank seal next weekend

New Crank seal was fitted today
Cover was needed during light showers. I managed to get covered in gearbox oil refiting the abs pump whilst laying under the gearbox during refitting it.
The last ever time i ever remove a gearbox on a Abs model

Re: restore time!! *UPDATE 23rd may - ready for action!*
update today, left my housethis morning at 9am to drive 100 miles to wiltshire where matt at M-tech was kind enough to open his workshop to do me a power run (well quite a few actually! ) just wanted to make sure it was fueling correctly and make a few adjustments to my nos controller. end result without nos 203.6bhp @ 6500rpm and 180ft/lbs. and with 50 shot of nos 242bhp 'and 250ft/lbs. with the nitrous its simply runnning far too rich so ill need to fit a smaller fuel jet but at least its safe! im very happy with the result and postive comments on the engine build and setup of course couldnt have done this without daves help too so well done dave told you that there was nothing to worry about today
next stop classic ford day at pod and then jap day!
