Right, i have an amp...and some 6x9's....what next!?
i got an alpine 250w 2 channel amp and some vibe 6x9's rated to 600w...
I intend to use my standard ford head unit, so i need a speaker to pca adaptor...thats on the way too!!
I'm not goin to mess about with the front speakers, i just want a bit of noise in the rear. A few questions...
What wires/connectors will i need? thickneses of wire etc..
Do i HAVE to change the parcel shelf???
Where can i get a decent false floor??
Is there an easy way to enable me to simply un-clip everything if i need to remove the parcel shelf and stick the seats down??
If there is anyone who can give me any answers or general help on wiring in this set up please let me know!!!

Well if your planning on putting the speakers in your rear shelf you will need a stealth shelf to hide them you can buy them or make your own out of mdf the speakers will have connectors and the wires will they will just pull off if you want to remove the shelf . i Dont know much about the wiring side but i think you run power to the amp then the amp to the head unit and run the speakers to the amp not too sure so someone else can tell you that

Don't think i'l bother with a stealth shelf, it's safe overnight and private car park during the day, the whole lot aint worth that much, covered by insurance anyway..
I have bought an amp wiring kit rated to 300w and a speaker to pca adaptor............here we go!!!

In order to remove my shelf easily so i can put my bike in the back, I have a large headphone jack in each side of the shelf, drilled through the plastic bits where the old speakers are. If yuo using an amp, it would eb best to mount it under the front seats so it doesn't get in the way.

I have to move the front seat about quite alot, i'l check when i get the kit..
One thing though...lately i've noticed alot of condensation in the boot in the mornings...at present there is only the carpet, i could put a floor in it but i'm not looking to spend alot

Thats a thought, i'l see how much wire i get with the kit and see, if theres a way it can be easily removed i might screw it to a fake floor in the boot, i need one anyway!
Don't think the parcel shelf will take the weight of the amp...thinking it's gonna have to be in the boot!

You have a few options here:
Option 1:
Make a mdf false floor, use the boot carpet as a template, and screw the amplifier to this and glie original carpet to mdf to neaten up.
Option 2:
Screw amplifier to back seat.
Option 3:
Velcro amplifier to floor carpet.
Option 4:
Install amplifier under rear seat bench on a mdf plate secured to the floor, with a fan built into the plate to cool the amplifier.
Personally I would make a double layered false floor which would allow you to throw gear in the car and the amplifier would be protected. To do this, make two false floors, and space them apart with timber battoning and screw the amp down inbetween the layers.
With the rear shelf, just jigsaw out holes for the speakers in the original shelf if your not too concerned on sound, and want a cheap fix, and if you find the shelf lacks structure, then simply add timber bracing on the underside, and trim back up.
A essential tool tho in your install for removable amplifier would be http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=4952 handy as hell allows you to just unplug and retain safety of insulation of wires. I like the idea above of making terminal blocks in the original speaker plastic trim so that you can disconnect the shelf speaker wires for ease of removal.
Hope that helps.

Right i have recieved the amp wiring kit, the amp, and the 6x9's...
I'm now thinking the parcel shelf wont take the weight so i will need to attatch some wood to the underside.
I will need a floor, if i make it exactly the right size i wont be able to put it in though????????
I havnt got the speaker to RCA adaptor yet so cant get on properly. I'm itching to get on but i really want to do it properly!!
