Road car weightloss

Hi guys- few quick questions:-

1) What are the lightest and affordable alloy wheels - preferably 15" and smaller - heard people say OZ wheels are quite good. Are ford alloys alot heavier?

2) I'm currently on escort gti's - will fitting lighter wheels make a noticeable difference to performance?

Team Dynamics Pro Race alloys (I think they are, as found on Neil from Fast Fords Fiesta) are a good lighweight alloy that won't break the bank.

Reducing the unsprung weight will pay dividends to how the car drives

Bit of dolar but OZ Ultra Leggera £500 odd for the 15's.

Oranoco - good that you mentioned 'un-sprung weight'

excellent - I shall look into those :)

My car just feels tired and a bit clumsy. She's tracked up and all the suspension has been overhauled (eibach springs, new dampers, polybushed, zs rear beam, new lower arms).

Currently running on escort gti's on 195/50/15's (terrible I profile I know :( ).

Thinking of either going down to 45's or just buying some new lightweight wheels altogether. Even considering sliding down to 14's.

Will have a good think :)
