‘Road Wars’ Rant
I was just watching road wars and there was a scene where they pulled over a white transit for having no tax. On closer inspection it was an utter shed and as they looked around it they found countless problems, it got to the point where they ordered a low loader to come and pick it up. Judging by the action taken, you can safely assume that the can had no MOT. The case went to court and ALL charges were dropped because of ‘lack of evidence’
The next scene was of a police car trying to catch up with a Porsche he’d seen speeding on the motorway. It was the dead of night, looked to be about 2am judging by the lack of other cars on the road (I counted 3 lorries in total) and the guy was doing about 130mph. Personally, bearing in mind the conditions, I don’t find that dangerous and the only life the person is risking is there own. The police caught up and the man and did him, I assume the usual ban, fine and points. Nothing else was mentioned so I took that to mean the car wasn’t stolen, the guy had a licence and the car was taxed, mot’d and insured.
Don’t you just love the common sense used in todays legal system.

Yep it's all about the revenue. Police aren't Police anymore, they're now just people out to get you.

Re: ‘Road Wars’ Rant
decision to drop charges ain't the police matey, its the CPS crown prosecution service. They wouldn't go to all that trouble and drop their own case.
As for 130mph on motorway, you're not seriously suggesting that it isn't dangerous because it is late at night?!!
I guess if they are with a film camera, there would be more scrutinizing and outrage if they just gave him a warning and went on their way!!
Just my 2p's worth

I'm not saying it's not dangerous, I'm saying that the circumstances made it MUCH less dangerous than at say 5pm in the pissing rain. Factors such as time (late at night), traffic conditions (dry with about 3 other cars on the road) and location (a bloody great big motorway) don't seem to be taken into account at all, it's just someone driving fast who can be caught and added to their list of 'dangerous criminals caught this month'.
Btw, the program was just a collection of footage from police cars, there weren't any camera crews live at the scene.

That's exactly what I'm getting at! someone caught red handed and the case is dropped. Similar, I think you'll agree, to the person on TV who's pulling over was all on video and their case dropped...
Something to add to this story: I was driving through Leicester the other night and there was a ford Ka in-front of me, we were the only 2 cars on this piece of road and we both came round a bend at about 35mph only to be confronted by a speed camera. Luckily i managed to brake in time but the KA driver (who looked a bit lost, slowing down slightly to read road names etc so concentrating on other things) didn't and the camera flashed them. I can hand on heart say we were doing no more than 35mph and the road was good for it....fair? I f**king think not!

if you study these programs closely and pay full attention, it just shows how stupid most traffic cops are, how un-educated they are at real life situations , i just say it depends how smart you are fortunatly ive only had one encounter with the police on the road and dont wish for any more however they was only assisting with a crash i had, not to bust me, good lane discipline and being observant help.. i always like to see the copper before he sees me

Re: ‘Road Wars’ Rant
I love how people become coppers and they then take on a new language. Who else speaks like a police-person, they must have to go to language lessons during their training because they all do it.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

The funny thing was i got a pep talking to about my speed and somewhere in the chat he starting talking to me about my Rs Cosworth and about the days when the copper had 1 years ago when it was all Group N stuff! lol
