ROLL CAGES

Postby vx220 on Mon Aug 21, 2006 8:25 pm

hi,

i've been lurking here for ages, but have only just got my FRST.

i've bought a "fixer-upper" and i'm looking for it to be a track day car, ie stripped, caged, buckets/harnesses/coil-overs but to use everyday.

i'm wondering if anyone has photos of roll cages? NOT cosmetic alloy/stainless ones, but full multi-point types? safety devices etc?

i would prefer a bolt-in multi-point, and i'd appreciate your views on fitting etc. especially how close to the roof etc. don't mind if it involves cutting the dash, might not even have a dash!

cheers in advance for your help.

A mate of mine Steve B who sometimes posts on here had a track RS1800 that was caged up and I myself have a caged S2. Firstly even bolt in cages will require an amount of welding as the B pillar legs need a platform to bolt to that needs to be welded in.

Loads of cages about from the likes of Safety Devices. All the proper cages I've seen for the Mk3 Fiesta so far require no dash cutting to fit.

Hope these are of help.

On a quick note if you are using th ecar on the road at all you may struggle with insurance as I had no end of problems despite being an old git and doing very few miles in it each year :(

I am looking into putting a OMP 10 point cage into my Fiesta Mk3 for trackdays when she is somewhere near completion.

Have a look here on eBay, this is the cheapest I have seen them!!

Insurance and roll cages dont go together

I had trouble finding someone to cover me with one fitted, there was only a few that would and Greenlight are one of them that will cover both caged cars and do trackday cover.

Ive not long fitted an OMP in my Fiesta and the dash needed to be cut,but its not like the dash is worth as much as a 3dr cosworth one lol.

Heres a few pics

Think its an OMP.

To be honest with the way it fits i cant see it being much use so i'll get some C.D.S and weld it inbetween the turrets.
