Can somebody please tell me how to give my RS 1800 a half descent power increase without spending hundreds of pounds.

Hello matey - this is what I've done to mine :

Kent 22bhp Cam Kit - £150 exchange + fitting
K&N57i - £70 (+3bhp)
Magnex exhaust - £250 (full system) +5bhp
De-cat pipe - £141 (+ 9bhp)
Superchip - £200 (+ 10bhp)

You should see well over 170bhp with all these - which is enough to blast away most cars.

Almost forgot - also get yourself a set of Red 8.5mm Magnecore HT leads and Splitfire plugs

Cheers, ive got the induction kit, magnex with de-cat pipe. Out of the other two what would you say gave you the biggest increase.
But at least now ive found someone with one, every one else as turbos or xr's

It's wicked to speak to someone with an 1800 too -

The quick fix on bhp gains is to buy the cam kit as it adds 22bhp - most of the power from this comes in at about 3500rpm and stays there until 6250rpm which is wicked for overtaking or stoping people from overtaking you !!! with what you've already got and the cam kit you'd be looking at a 0-60 of about 7secs but the best gains are from 45mph upto 110mph where the car just keeps pulling

Get the chip to smooth everything out and to stop the car from drinking so much petrol

UniChip!

is cutom mapped by the Operator, meaning that you get a chip specifilcy set up for your car, not a superchip which is just mapped in the factor and slapped in

Unichips are more expensive, but worth it

Kiss my Rs(1800) - with those bits you should see 160bhp quite nicely, if you're gonna put the cams on, you'll need a chip to smooth it all out and to stop you from eating your clutch

Andrew is right about the Unichip, a friend of mine had one put on her 1800 as well as the bits listed at the top and her car canes mine in a straight line by about a car length. Superchips can be mapped after being put in the car so that they can accomodate any changes you make to things like the cams but by and large they're not very responsive to tuning. A unichip should cost around £300 + fitting but there ain't many places that can fit them.
