RS turbo vs ST?

Postby WTFRage360 on Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:04 am

I currently have a 57 plate ST 2 litre and I'm thinking about selling up (or trading down to a nice RS Turbo if anyone wants to give a p/x good price) but I'm not sure..
How much £ am I looking at for a decent Rs Turbo? I'm not talking perfect condition or show condition, just decent, not some rusty nail that everyone is disgusted to look at.

Are there many small modifications you can do to the RS Turbo? (Ones under 300 £ at a time)
What sort of BHP can you get up to without straining the engine (and not spending ridiculous thoudands of £)
How's the handling?
What's the economy side like, what sort of mpg are you getting? Insurance costs, tax?

Sorry for the thousand questions, just weighing up what to switch to from my ST, I want to start mod'ing a car and with how new my car is everyone has steered me well clear of modifying such a new car, so I'm leaning very much towards the Fiesta RST, but I was also thinking about the Escort RS turbo, can anyone name off any pros and cons between the Fiesta RST and the Escort one? If anyone could help me with all this I would be immensly grateful, I've always loved Fords so I do want to stick to the Ford side before anyone steers me any other direction...and because of my age a Cossie isn't viable, I'm 22 and the insurance would be sky high on a Cossie lol.

Thanks guys

Shane

pro's and con between the two are escorts are older and 'feel' older where as the fiesta has a more modern look and feel. the both rust as bad if not fiestas a bit more. the escort has a better, more sophisticated suspension set up and will go round corners better than a fiesta if set up properly and in good condition. 99% of escorts will be running mfi fuel injection which due to its age will more than likely play up all the time where as the fiesta runs efi fuel injection. efi is more modern and tuning above 200bhp is easier than a mfi set up. get some pics up of the st,it might get some interest :)
