right I've been posting messages about tuning my si for some time now and it seems the best thing to do is to put an Rs1800 lump into it.
but i just need to know a few things.
1.where can i get one from.
2.what should i be looking to pay.
3will i need to change anything else on my car.
4how easy is it to change the engine over.

ill be greatful for any advice.
cheers

Look at the post about putting a 2.0 in a 16v 2i, that should tell you everything you need to know about fitting one. You can get one second hand or (if you're lucky and manage to hunt one down) a scrappy. I think I'm right in saying they go for about £150-£250 second hand depending on condition, tuning mods carried out etc.

Anyone please feel free to correct me, I've probably got something wrong there

not putting you off or anything but a 2.0l engine would be easier to trace than an RS1800. If u do come accross one make sure its NOT the 105ps XR2i 16V engine.

Goodluck and all the best. :)

like chum said, your going to be lucky to find a scrapped RS1800.
although i do belive that the same engine was in some escorts and orions but the biggest external diference in the look of the engines is a sticker on the throttle body

but g for a 2.0 instead

My mate is swapping his RS1800 lump for a 2.0 zetec...not sure what's left of the head & block but at least it's a base to start with. :)
