Sounds possibly cat/MAF-related...any idea when the cat was last changed? It should reeeally be holding it back in all gears.

sounds like the cat...

I run an ashley tubular.. not the best in the world I know.. but I had to put the Cat back on for the mot with the standard manifold and omg.. the difference is unreal... it revs so much smoother and accelerates so so so much quicker.

tbh mate, I'd agree with James... I'd start with the cat and go from there.. removing the cat is a great upgrade so you cant go wrong either way.

If the MAF is dodgy then it will automatically cause the engine to run on base settings which are overly rich as this is safer than running the engine lean... this will make the engine feel lazy and bog down abit until higher in the rev range.
