RS1800 to 160bhp+?

Postby 007 on Fri Jan 17, 2003 10:50 pm

What are the mods and the costs? Anyone know - basically im pretty close to just going and buying a Clio Williams BUT id rather have an RS. The only RS's i can afford and want are the RS2000/RS1800's. If I can get a RS2000 to 170/180 or a RS1800 to 160/170 id go for it. I think the RS2000 has a "learing" ecu that doesn't like being tuned - I could be wrong though. I know it can be done - anyone know the costs? :)

the 1.8 zetec with 130ps cams(that the rs1800 have) and a weber alpha body kit will give u about 155bhp and the kit cost £1595
and that just 2 start then u can get the head dun biger cam's adjustable cam pulley and so on

the person you want to speak to on here is x-factor, he can answer most questions on the zetec and supply alot of it mate, his other half's RS1800 is producing around 175bhp at the moment will soon be upgraded to 200bhp :o (its naturally aspirated too!)

there is alot you can do, strengthened bottom end, head work, cams, uprated injectors, throttle bodies (as abouve) the list goes on....

come sumer time i will performing the 1800 zetec conversion with an upgrade to around 155 - 160bhp, good luck 8)

1800+2 litre zetec heads have identical castings..

Weber alpha is s**t, and uses dated electronics, and dated software, and your havin a laugh at that price cos their are s**t loads extra u need that are not in the package, standard length bodies with an airfilter with the correct airflow around the bodies will not fit, they are too long, get these and u will either have to run a restrictive filter, or no filter, btw filter socks are crap.

dont like Webber stuff then Geoff?

the RS2000 uses the L4 mate, completely different to the zetec in the RS1800, ford only used it once AFAIK, its has a timing chain rather than a timing belt.... pushes 150bhp i think :bonkers:
