rs1800 turbo ?

Postby Sai007 on Sat Feb 28, 2009 7:06 pm

Hi, would this be a case of taking the turbo, manifold, inlet manifold, injectors ect from a fiesta/escort rs turbo and fitting them to the dohc rs 1800 engine,
obviously ill need to buy low comp forged pistons, con rods ect, how big of a job ? because i am really thinking about a nice project to do over the summer :P

cheers.

firstky, remove the 1800 and ft the 2.0, the engine is less restrictive as standard and will release more gains for the same outlay.
you dont need, low comp pistons and rods, but they will help make your engine bulletproof.

whats your budget ? as that is always the limiting factor in these things

the thing is mate i love the frst, and this project will be done over an amount of years, so could be a few grand over the years, i'm only gonna rebuild an engine first and they try n find a cheap rst shell to restore

right, so you have a FRST, and are looking to upgrade.

Do a search then, this has been done MANY times before

Why you freaking out and dropping the old "search button" speech on me and fyi i have searched. I was mearly asking what it involved to "turbo" the specific engine.

freaking out ? imdroping the old search button speech because its applicable, as for this "specific" engine, its the same for any of the zetec engines, no different, so instead of being lazt, hit the old search button

Couldnt agree more, and also judging by the opening post you think you can fit all the cvh turbo parts right on to the rs1800.

As suggested, go get a 2.0 zetec, rs1800 manifld, then buy some low compression pistons and rods, have them fitted. As for exhaust/turbo youcan either get a proper zetec turbo manifold , focus RS item, or have your head tapped to fit an escort T3 manifold (mines like that or get an adapter plate).

Without this being taken the wrong way, if you dont knwo what you are doing, call some experts, take it to a garage or wait a few more months and read up and learn. I was a complete noob once but some patience and reading got my knowledge i have now.

Also this lovely site you are a member of has many guides including

that should get you started
