RS1800 uprated fuel pump ideas.

Postby XRoriginal on Fri Apr 11, 2008 3:07 pm

Dear All,

I am beginning to suspect my fuel pump is on the fritz.

Now my car is mildly tuned (cams, 421, ported head, chip etc.)- no where near requiring major fuel delivery modifications.

However, since I am replacing anyway, and no doubt teh standard part won't be cheap from ford - can anyone recommend some plug and play type uprated ones?

Thinking of also getting my injectors removed and cleaned and to finish with a new fuel filter :)

I don't see the point unless you need it. Why not go and get an Si (same as the RS/XR pumps) one for a tenner from the scrappers?

considering the quite trying task of replacing a fuel pump - surely at least a new original part would be recommended?

hmm -- my logic was simply if there is little difference between an uprated and standard part in terms of price, it would be in my interests to get an uprated one. :)

That's a fair call but for the price of buying a new one you could probably get five from the scrappers!
