RS500 calipers

Postby ~Tony~ on Wed Oct 26, 2005 12:36 am

anyone fitted these to a frst,

by my theory they go under 15's as the rs500 had 15's as std and should be better than the usual 1 pot setup,

any advice, info much appreciated

so rumour has it they are 4 pots on the RS500 and as they fit under the std rs500 15's they should fit under mine.

dunno if 3 doors had the same brakes but sure i have heard mention of rs500's having 4 pots

if anyone can shed any light would be great

I think most if not all of the 2WD's had 4 pots mate, they can be made to fit but will require an Escort master cylinder.

Scort did the conversion to his Escort: http://www.rsbible.co.uk/

We will need 4x4 discs though I think, as the 2wd offset is incorrect fo Fiesta use.

They are the same as all the other 2wd calipers. As mentioned you'll need the discs off a 4x4.

I'm told that they aren't actually as good as the single pot sliders on the 4x4s so I wouldn't pay any extra for them. There's more to a good caliper than the number of pistons.

i was going to have Scorts off him but discussing it with him, would not only need different disc but huge spacers on the calipers too.
and the icing on the cake was the fact they weigh a ton apparently
worth ago if you got them hanging about but not if you got to buy them IMHO
