rsonblackwheels Fiesta RST, Feature pics.
hi everyone im new so fort i should post up some pictures of my FRST
i'v had it about 2 1/2 years now i bought it from Aylesbury have been devolping it from day1
it was a few diffrent shades of red with the usal rust on rear archs, filler cap and behind the body kit
so i sorted the body work 1st then changed the wheels(Team Dynamics Pro Race II) and put on some decent suspension (adjustable Spax kit) and this was sortley followed by a full scopion exhaust system
with my old MK1 XR2
so i after i got it looking and sounding nice i turn my attention to the engine
1st it got a new exhaust manifold as it had cracked, a hybrid T2 with a pace alloy rad and pace double capacity intercooler along with a set of samcos and a baily dump valve
then it devolped a over boost problem so i took it to power engineering for a 165super chip and it made 159BHP and 156Lb/Ft at 10PSI
and that was how she was left untill the end of november 2006...

Re: elo
Looks really clean mate, only thing I would do is put the 3.5 mirrors back on. Apart from that looks like you've done some good work mate, body looks in good nick.

Re: elo
Then at the end of November 2006 i was driving back from southend (sarrrffend) cruz and after having a play with my m8 in a DC2 integra Type R i noticed a rather load Tick coming from the top of the engine. combine with what i fort was a piston slap noise on start up and 108,000 miles on the trusty old CVH. It was time for a re-build
Oh dear me and my m8 Dom did manage to get the half out thow with a stud extractor
so i had the new KP Racing pistons
ARP bottom end bolts
and the block its self was overhalled new core plugs ect.
the head has been CNC polish and ported and had piper double valve springs
and the compression ratio is now 8.0 to 1
all carried out by Mike Tanski at farriday enginering
I'v also fitted a Newman billiet race cam and solid lifters ( a lil noisey but worth it for the revs ) along with a piper vernier pully
I also had the gear box re-built with a quafie ATB LSD and a AP uprated clutch
I'v probarly forgot some of it but my spec sheet aint to hand at the min
i then had it set up at Torque of the devil and it made 173.4 BHP & 174 lbs/ft at 1bar (15psi) of boost which i'm happy with
i then fitted some nice willwood 4 pots and bigger discs to match the new power
at castle combe RSOC day pretty much as it looks now but i'v taken the rear window stickers off
shes of the road for the winter now and i'v just removed the fule tank for a clean up and the rear beam is off for rear discs and powder coating
PLANS
still saving for stand alone management
green bumper strips and the origonal RS Turbo boot decal
T3 conversion at somepoint
front mount intercooler
strut braces and roll cage
just a small list but i dont thinks it would ever end lol

Re: elo
elo again, i fort it might be time for an update
so far i have removed the fule tank and found some rust that needs sum attention, and painted the tank red.the main reson for removal was cos of the big hole one of the previous owners had cut in her to replace the pump i guess.(has since been changed for a cossie item)
have also removed the rear beam and painted it and the roll bar now waiting on the polly bushes and the rear disc fitting kit
i'm also replacing all the brake pipe as i twisted the offside rear piece when fitteng the braided lines and also for peace of mind
note the big hole
in need of a clean
after a rub down
after rust treatment and the 1st coat
the beam and roll bar after a clean up and paint
my new lines
from rally design full car kit pre made lengths rolled up for just over £100 took 2 weeks to get to me as they had to order them in
managed to get some 3.5 mirrors from my local scrapie just need to get them painted (more added to list to do )
a few other bits from ford both still avaliable
i'v also gathered up a new std header tank, strut braces front and rear, black door trim handels door pockets ext to match my black dash.
i'v still got loads left to do, need to get the welder out then, a master cylinder and some dot 5.1 fluied, re-spray the servo, new steering rack, the list goes on but i'll keep this up-dated
how shes been left
catch you later

Good work
Why do people cut the hole larger, its just as easy to remove the tank underneath
Got to do my lines over the winter,
be careful with the clips, you can't get them anymore from Ford
I got my ones from the local scrappy
Cheers

i'm trying to pick the paint off as we speak so i can re-use them
i fairs very well against DC2 tegs but it was running 160hp at 10psi at the time
my pipe clips seem to be ok most of them are still intact proberly worth a trip to my local scrapy by the sound of things
thanks for the comments people

iv' got the rear beam back in with polly bushes and the tanks back in too
i'v also run new cooper brake lines to the back and put a coat of hammerite on the floor
the rear discs are now on and working the handbrake cable gave us some problems but we got on in the end
also got the 3.5 mirrors on still got a bit to be for castle combe in april but the list is slowly getting shorter
will up-date again soon catch you later

thanks for the coments
jayrs: i had problems getting the cable to hook over the calipers, sounds silly but i got real confused and made things worse befor we got it on by messing with the adjuster still having abit of trouble getting them adjusted too.
rs-tom: yeah they are team dynamics pro race 1.2's but they're only 15's with 195/45s on them
have to try and get down to the southampton meet when its back on the road
catch you later

Re: rsonblackwheels RST up-date 7/7/08
time for another small up-date
it now runs a Omex 600 series ecu with the anti lag hooked up (not that it needs it but its goood fun) and is now making just under 190hp and 200lbs of tourque, installed and mapped at tourque of the devil in ukbridge
just see my RST in the back ground of a Hants RSOC rolling road day
but my poor lil Hybrid T2 turbo is now at its limit due to its size (damn laws of physics ) running 18psi thow, so i'm now on the look out for a worn out T3 to hybrid and see what it gos like then
whilst it was there i got the guys to fit and set up a brake bias valve as after doing the rear discs conversion it was rather scary under heavy braking and was really bad in the wet, the back end either would lock up and try n swop ends
its been put where the two original valves where, the brakes are now awsome and stops loads better very happy with them now
i'v also got around to fittng my front and rear braces
on the outside i managed to get some green bumper stripes
there is still plenty to do, could do with a new gear linkage as it has a serious case of Mr floppy
the rear archs need "adjusting" due to the rear dics conversion pushing the wheels out more
the rev counter is having issues too, it just bounces around waving at me now, i'm not sure weather its because of the new revs produced by the newmen cam and it can't keep, or it dosnt like talking to the new ECU or its just its time to give up, so i'm looking into some digital stuff,Rally Design have got some cool stuff at the min
so plenty to do as uasl but i'm having a carrer change so might be a lil while coming, hopfully i can get it done by the winter so it can come off the road again for the T3 conversion and a front mounted intercooler
hope you like thanks for reading and i'll up-date when i can
