some pics of my new bits as promised :)

at last got a half cage, ratspeeds RS1800's OMP, was white, now red

Image

Image

started spraying it this morning then ran out of paint   had some fun trial fitting to sort out mounts/holes

have also at last bought some coilovers, AVO stuff

Image

also bought a few bits from Ford Fair

some Performance Trim carbon rear quater pannels

Image

and a small performance mod

Image

gotta be worth an extra 8 - 10 bhp easy :Q

Image

as i ran out of paint for the cage but was still in a painting mood i decied to give my other thermostat housing a quick coat of grey/silver. the one thats on the car at the minute has an hole blanked off for an old temp gauge sensor that's not used any more

used this
Image

before

Image

after 1st coat

Image

soo got to get some more red paint to finish off the cage, fit the carbon rear quater pannels, then get the cage bolted in when i've finished making the plates for inside the rear wheel arch, then sort out the plates for the mounting points behinde the seats. then i think i'm going to remove the fuel lines and try and freshen them up, may have to think of a new way of clipping them back onto the floor as i know some of the 20 year plastic clips have broken

will need to get round to fitting the coilovers too  , also made a start on removing the sound deadening from the boot floor, under where the rear seats used to be and will also do under the front seats too.

have also got to replace the turbo inlet water feed, the cambelt and sumpgasket :x

i'll up-date when i've made some progress

glad you got some now.

cage is looking smart. thought you were considering black to match outside theme?

still looks real good tho

cage looks good mate, i see avo have changed there shocks a little, or have you painted the threads and spring platforms?

thanks guy's, finished painting the cage today, its not an amazing job as it was done outside but at least its fairly even  and i'm bound to knock some of the paint off when it goes back in this week

Jay : i got the paint from my local EAS in basingstoke, but like you, i've had it years and yes it's nice and thin, as for the AVO's thats how they came out of the box, it is quite nice that they match the black/red theme  i also noticed that they use plastic grub screws to lock the platforms now, i was pretty sure they used to be metal but that can't do the threads any good i surpose and i've seen some secondhand ones with ceased gurb screws. hopefuly shouldn't happen with the plastic ones, or at least they will be easy to drill out

RS1800 Dom: glad it's some motivation for you dude & i was laughing my @ss off at the grand prix this afternoon, when the Italian's where going on about 'the Ferrari' and 'PIT STOP' it was like they came straight out of 'Cars'

ill have to try find some of that paint, bloody good stuff.

plastic grub screws eh, hmm, yeah old ones were metail, with a nylon bit that went in first.
mine prob seized in by now, but i plan to change my set up to that like the gaz, ill machine up a second ring (or buy more if cheap enough) and lock the 2 together

yeah dude, they are Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's in 15" and are 7" wide with 195/45 tyres. They touched the rear shocks (only just) but that was sorted but some 3mm spacers, they do look nice on the MK3's

Jay - second ring for locking sounds like a good idea dude

just a quick one this evening, finished painting the cage and got it back in the car

Image

Image

also had a quick test fit of the carbonfiber rear 1/4's

Image

Image

quick over all, excuse the lack of rear bumper, a small bit of tinworm needs some attention  you can sort of make out the 1/2cage though the reflections of the rear window

1st post of 2011

small amount of progress since last time, had the fuel lines off, gave them a quick coat of hammerite and re-fitted 'em. get them back on was a fiddel  not the most interseting thing to take pics of but heres a couple aways

Image
Image

also got some LUKE harness's, just chucked one it at the moment

Image

had these donated by my step dad, some Nimbus Heatsocks came off his Droop Snoot Firenza which he has just sold (had to make room for his VXRacing VXR Astra) which should help keep some of the heat off my long suffering HT leads, may invest in some Burton Powerleads too.

Image

made a start on fitting the bonnet RS1800Dom sold me ages ago with some areocatch's

Image
Image

just finished off the one Dom started at the min, was going to fit the second but couldn't get the template in the right place, in the end i had been measuring and looking at them for so long even if i did it have it spot on, it didn't look right to me  try again another day

and to finish some off some 'bonnet off' pics

Image
Image
Image

the clear cambelt cover won't be staying, got the old original back out, just needs a quick clean up

still havn't got around to fitting the Avo's yet, or the thremostat housing, or the last L plates on the cage  plenty to do still, hope the weather warms up

yeah dude the areolatch's are in!! :)

has been back to the bodyshop for it though, they also welded in the L-plates for the cage, repaired the crack in the nearside rear suspension turret and seam welded both rear turrets

Image

the crack went from the bolt hole to the bigger central hole

Image

and the other side seam welded and sealed, the cage is also now welded to the turret. kind of had to be done as it butted up against it

Image

the strut brace is out at the min for a bit of paint

Image

so onto the latches

Image

they also repaired the front slam pannel as the corners were rotting where it joins the front wings

Image
Image

1
Image
2
Image
3
Image

and the more observant may have spotted the bonnet is also back to RED rather than the lesser colour of white  and the OE line is back

Image

just need an new oval

Image

its abit of a state at the minute really needs a wash to get all the bodyshop dust off, also got a small TiAL delivery but more pics in abit as i've got to get dinner ready
