Running in question

Postby ~Tony~ on Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:44 pm

i'm going to be rebuilding my engine soon and it will be live mapped after it is run in.

my question is how will i go about running it in as the car wont be setup for the injectors etc on the std map of the ecu

will this damage my engine running it in like this?

or will i have to buy a chip to run it in etc?

You shouldn't try to run an engine in on an ecu that needs mapping. Can you drop the old injectors in, turn the boost down (I'm assuming it's a turbo) and run it in on the stock ecu?

thats what i thought, its going to be low comp so will this affect the running of it, even if it is on the old injectors and std boost setting

people must deal with this all the time, just dont need to build the engine up and then have to start taking it apart to swap bits over etc, although i thought it might be what i'd have to do

i personally would build it up, with the injectors etc i intead to use throughout and then get a running in map, then go back 1000 miles later for the full map :)
