Re: Russ' mint green FRST
Thanks that's what I'm going for really everyone tends to stick with what's tried and tested I want to try and build my fez a little different, was thinking going mad with some mental wheels but 1. They are expensive 2. I can't make my mind up on what ones and 3 I'm skint ATM and what some wheels that will help with grip so no stretch rubbish so I'm thinking of getting some escOrt gti ones again and slap some proxie 4's or parade spec 2's on them??
Hoping to have my car nearer home some time soon and il chuck some pics up as ATM it's minging hasn't been touched since USC , it still has my sleeping bag in the boot

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
Well fitted the escort m/c and servo today everything went ok all the brake pipes went straight in with a little bending and had to bore out the holes on the mount abit to get it to bolt up, everything went fine bled up really well but then went to test them and the pedal is rock solid and I think the front left caliper is siezed on what can I do? Will driving it up and down the road free it up or will I break something ? Or shall I just take the wheel of and give it a bashing with the hammer and bleed them all again?

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
nothing will break driving it up the road but i doubt it will free them up. you could try removing the pads and pumping the cylinder out and push it back in do this a couple of times it sometimes works (well it has for me). Also when the cylinder is pupmed out try puttin a bit of duck oil or something on the cylinder itself before pushing it back in just to lubricate a bit.

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
It's the servo I put some washers on the back to space it away ( seems the rod that goes to the brake bar is too long?? ) and it was ok for a bit then they came back on again more washers I suppose has any1 else had this problem??

Re: Russ' mint green FRST, NEED HELP!!!
Sorry if I've missed it Russ and you've already done it or bought it modified, but the Escort MC needs the rod shortening by 20mm or something, I can't remember exactly, but that's the figure that sticks in my head.

Re: Russ' mint green FRST, NEED HELP!!!
sounds like its the escort master cylinder not the mondeo one, same size but the rod on the mk5 escort needs cutting and re welding together by 1cm, (shortening it basicly)

Re: Russ' mint green FRST, NEED HELP!!!
I would strongly recommend a mondeo master cylinder and servo instead. It has some drilling needing doing on the mounting bracket, but the rod positions correctly and it's stronger. The only thing you may have to do is washer the rod into the pedal like I did. An M reg mondeo with a blocked off clutch feed is perfect.

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
dont bother getting the mondeo one if you already have a escort one, can you get access to a welder?
ill upload the pictures now
but basicly, the master cylinder rod on the back of the servo that sits betweent he two brackets, it has a knuckle on the end, this rod needs cutting in half and shortening by 1 cm, then rewelding back on
the brackets simply need some filing out its piss easy, i done it in a few mins
pics in a min

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
here we go
escort mk5 servo
the servo rod that needs shortening, needs 1CM cutting off for use on a mk3 fiesta
the bracket just needs minor filing out, simply offer the brackets up to the mounting bolts on the bulkhead to see how much needs filing away
no point drilling it it took me less than 5 mins
fitted (two of my outputs were blocked off as i have ABS)

Re: Russ' mint green FRST need help again :/ lol
Well iv figured it out now turns out was just a bad exhaust blow once I looked in daylight it was obvious lol need to get new studs and a gasket and go through all the exhaust side and make it all 100% that's the plan ATM is just to go through everything on the car and make sure it's 110% before I do the next
Also thinking I need some new wheels not decided on what yet tho I doubt il ever be able to save masses of money just for wheels but any1 got any good ideas?? ATM I'm thinking either vts wheels again or maybe silver/white 1.2's

Small update
Well done something that's been bugging me for a while today:
Got bored off black calipers and I liked the look of my 1.3 ones
So started with these:
Weapon of choice
Excuse the sloppy painting skills only brush I had was far too big lol
Nice and lairy
And thought I'd be a bit of a tart used cotton buds to brush it on wish and wipe any excess off made it really easy and neat
Need to get my FMIC and green boost pipes then tidy up wiring and the engine bay is done for looks, might redo the rocker cover, inlet and charge carrier?? Again as ain't a great finish and maybe move the battery to the boot later on?? And spray the engine bay mint green at some point

Re: Russ' mint green FRST small update
Yeah the brakes are fine! Got the servo done a few days after lol didn't notice you tho been trying to fix the car it's been running like a tank lately with a bad blow so new: leads, plugs, rocker cover gasket, ex mani gasket and new studs and nuts were fitted fixed the blow and ran smoother but still wasn't right, turned out the pins inside the injector plug on cyl.2 had been bent somehow and weren't making contact after all the faffing about going thru spark air fuel etc pushed the pins in plugged it back on and ran sweet I am in love again I will wash it soon and get some pics but the weather is crap also picked up some mudflaps and chrome boot lifters the other day tried on the mud flaps and they're about an inch very max off the floor and was thinking of fitting the lifters under the bonnet??? Not sure if it will look smart or chavy tho Opinions??

could always spray the bonnet lifters so they aren't chrome. most newish dubs about 10yrs old or so have 1 lifter as standard. makes working on the car so much easier
