No point deleting this Russ, its something for you to look back on in the future. You've done well with the car!

On the subject of brake servos, Jony, you had ABS as standard yes? That can play a part in why the standard servo may have been a bit crap.

I am still running the standard servo with fiesta ST front brake setup, and my brakes are sharp and powerful under many conditions - fast road driving, track driving, normal driving. I have nearly hit the steering wheel a few times. The key is properly bled brakes with new fluid with good discs and pads.

Everyone will have their opinion of course. And obviously a bigger servo does help aid braking too. But as you said, its not always about the size :)

where in them words did you decide a bloody attack is nessesary, bugger off with your violent outbursts

danny nothing is wrong with the standard servo, i am supprised it suits your massive brakes without a hitch as my 260's werent as good with my original servo

abs is irrelevant mate it was disconnected long ago

cant believe this guy takes his stress out on me like this, i didnt even say anything wrong

Smidydevil, That outburst was completely un called for. I cant see anywhere where Jony provoked that at all? His questions and comments were completely valid , it was you that obviously took it the wrong way. I see your hoping for the other 'Jony haters' to pipe up and back you up.

And telling someone how s**t thier car is and to weigh it in is just being an outright dick.

Chill the f**k out and wind your neck in.

smidydevil.

i have to agree here, your outburst is uncalled for, i know jony isn't liked by a lot of people on here, but in the case of this thread, im sorry to say, from what ive read hes done nothing wrong, ok you didn't want to accept his reply, but you could of ignored it, but you didn't and then the outburst came.

i dunno if your having a bad day or what, but suck it up, man and in future please keep the person insults to yourself, as this can lead to a warning or a ban as per forum rules, and i don't wanna see that happen to anyone.

so lets get the thread back on topic :)

As above really. I know Jony is not well liked by alot of members, but lets leave personal abuse out of it please.

Jony, as I said via PM, you would do well to resist replying to the threads of members you know dont like you, its going to lead to problems everytime, and I for one don't want to clean them all up. You have some repair work to do to your rep on here, and keeping your head down is key to it.

meh the kid annoys the hell out of me,

and what are people on about trying to spark the Jony haters?? I said what I said because that was my opinion on it and in my mind it had to be said I don't want or need people to "back me up"

I think nomads advice should be followed

if anyone thinks I'm a prick for saying what I think then so be it, like I said tho the kids aggravates me terribly and yes I do have a very bad temper

ANYWAY

not much progress to report really change my servo for a Mondeo one and it's alot bigger :o didn't think it would fit in te bay  bled all the brakes and it's alot better, but now the pedal sits low , as soon as its pushed it's very sharp but I think
iv read somewhere this is due to the rod being shorter or something?? and that the pedal can be spaced up with washers to put it back to the correct placement?? I will have a look today and see what I can do

on another note before I changed my servo I replaced both rear wheel cylinders and shoes and I don't think
iv ever seen a wheel cylinder so annihilated :aaah: it was dripping out of the drum and I could barely make out where the cylinder was through the crud  so nice to have equalish braking again (the fronts are still over powering but they should be) whilst I was there I discovered that my rear suspension top mount bush things :bonkers: are absolutely shagged and one has a rip almost the whole way around it good thing I bought some poly bush ones the other week :) so these will be gettin fitted today along with my exhaust gettin welded up and fixed finally :)

sorry no pics was far to cold n windy

I think with the mondeo servo you need to use the fiesta rod.

I think there is a guide on fiestaguides which will say about it :)

I didn't have a problem with brake pedal height. The biting point will be closer to the top of the pedal, but that's only because the standard MC has about 1" of slack in the pedal :D

If there' sa big issue then maybe there's a difference between Mk3.5 and Mk3 servo mount brackets? I did the conversion on a 3.5.

mine is also a mk3.5 so I can't see any difference there  it could be that iv used the Mondeo servo and the escort mc as I didn't have enough brake fluid to disconnect the mc and fill the whole system again then bleed so I kept the escort one as it fits the Mondeo servo and re bled the whole system, the pedal feel is very good you get a few mm where it does nothing then next couple of mm it feeds in and a sharp prod or firm press and it definately stops ! :aaah: :Q it's just the pedal rests in a low place it rests lower than the throttle pedal, I was thinking of just putting a few washers behind the pedal like i have seen a few people do just to bring the pedal position back up.

also haven't been able to do any progress lately as this sh***y f****ng weather so no pics or progress but I will leave you with this :D

not trying to be a smart arse or fussy, but you should get some new plates made up, that front one looks a bit tatty and tbh, is letting down an otherwise really nice car!

so after helping my old man out on a job whilst it's been pissing down all day I got home soaked at about 2 (left early cos of all the rain and you can't really point up a hole house in the rain ) I got home and just to piss me off it dried up almost instantly and the sun was shining so I thought sod it I'm goin to do some bits to the car :)

now as iv fitted the vts wheels for quite a few reasons not just cos they look pretty  it has been scrubbing a little and it's not quite as low as I'd like it but I'm not complaining
here's a couple of pics I took when I first put em on
Image
Image
sorry bout the pics iPhones are great unless you want a half decent picture

so I had it scrubbing a little and as the tyres are pretty much new and low profiles I wana keep them legal for a while,
so I decided rather than raising it up and have it sitting like a lemon (or lime in this case? ) I would cut out the plastic arches and fold up the metal lip to the arch so it had nothing to scrub on
so with a dremmil and a few cutting discs (I found the higher rpm the dremmil was the quicker it cut but the more discs you snap lol) and a few mins I decided to do it like this
Image
and continue around the arch like so
Image
and I done this to all 4 arches and the undersealed behind the arch lip then beat it up do it was almost flush and then grind/wire wheel off the cracked paint and paint new paint over the top so it's all got layers and won't rust :)
I didn't take any pics of this however as I'd feel like a right pikey 'showing off' my beaten arches  but I thought whilst I had the car up in the air I might aswell slap another layer of paint in the rear drums as when I done them before the pair was very thin and recently they have started rusting through
Image
didnt paint the face as I didn't want to wait hours before puttin the wheels back on  but looks alot better than the black with ginger ackne that was on there before :)
small update but hopefully the weather is good tomorow and I will make a start on re undersealing the underneath :Q

I know I seem to be the only one, but as I said before when you tried out some VTS wheels, they just don't work for me! :(

I think the shape is wrong for the Fiesta lines... Fiestas look better with non-directionally styled wheels, if you get me, i.e. straight spokes, or wheels like the OZ Racing ones, I can't remember what model they are, like you see on the Escort Cosworth Montes, or like the Compomotive THs. It's not just because they're a VTS wheel, it's like Series 2 Turbo wheels (which obviously have directional spokes also) never work on Fiestas either, in my opinion!

Sorry, Russ, but I'm always honest with you!

that's cool man Id rather you be honest! it's not going to be to everyone taste it was going to be these or comp TH's :Q but these came up set of 5 with legal (5-6mm) tyres (low pro's aswell) good condition the 5th alloy is kerbed and the tyre has a hole basically in the side wall but will probs strip the tyre off and sell it and 1 of the 4 on my car is already rubbed down ready to paint but will refurb them all anyway as it's easy  for the price of.. £100.... :) they go between 3-350 all day long set of 4 :) plus I like the 20mm extra poke the give look really wide in person :) the 3 spokes sit far in!

sayin that will put a thread up soon but my 3 spokes and RS turbo door cards are for sale if anyone wants them?

well I ended up going ultimate BHp at lydenn hill the other day again took the car with me this year I was so wanting to get it out on track but my clutch is so un healthy ATM I wouldn't of
finished my laps let alone drove home afterward  I did get a few pics of the cars that were up there but I can't be assed ATM to upload them all  the car wasn't cleaned or prepare in anyway for the show as I didn't know I was goin untill 5.00am that morning   but hey ho it went and had a good few
people come up with good comments and I could only see 2 other mk3's up there both with 2ltrs in them so it was different :) my mate got a few pics for me as I always forget about photos lol
also fitted my rear anti roll bar iv had in the shed for over a year  has made a fair difference
as before the only body roll I had was from the rear now it just sits flat and feels very planted altho it is extremely bumpy now with the arb and the coileys on x x hard lol, also attempted to fit some
polly bushes I bought of someone of here (can't remember who) but I was told they are for the rear shocks, apon figment I have no idea what they are for  the only rubber on my rear shocks is the one that sits ontop of the shock in the turret and one side has split and squeaks/creaks I will try and get a photo of the polly bush I have and see if anyone knows what it's for  got a few things to do on the car over the next week or so, clutch along with gearbox fluid change and hopefully a new linkage (I might be able to reverse properly soon! :) ) turbo oil return gasket is leaking slightly I have a new one sat in the cupboard, undersealing the underneath, refurb alloys (anyone any ideas?? im more than likely going to do them silver again but my ears are open to suggestions) and give it a good clean for once lol has been quite neglected lately the last time I gave it a proper good detail clean was USC last year :aaah: mostly down to the weather and me being too lazy :p
