The clicking is the fuel pump priming....sounds like the one or several of the injectors could be faulty or blocked.

By the injectors clicking, he means they're opening and closing as they should I had my ear to them with a screwdriver
Hopefully he'll find out more tonight!

right iv got the pictures uploaded from the work iv been doing.. isnt many as my fone keeps buggering up sorry bout the bad quality lol

onto the engine side of things it runs but quite badly, sounds like a very loud exhaust blow
i done the compression test on it and it came up as 135-140 on all 4 cylinders (about 9.5 bar???) i think this is right is it not??
and when i took out the plugs for it the plugs in cylinders 1+2 were all clean as if unused and no. 3+4 were black as if to say overfueling so maybe i could have the injectors in cylinders 1+2 blocked and instead of firing out of these its firing extra fuel into 3+4
im going to tomorow order up a new gasket for the manifould to turbo joint and then take it all off and make sure it is all super tight lol
does anyone have any ideas??? as its completly baffled me
i really hope its nothing serious

Well at least the compression is even across the four.
Were the plugs on 1 and 2 fuelly at all? Or does it seem as though there's definitely no fuel going in?

no it didnt seam like there was anything goin in the pots fuel wise i think il get em out tomorow and have a look but not really sure what to look for

140psi seems rather low, especially for a turbo engine, most are around 170 and thats N/A
it will be hard surely to reach close to your ideal target of 200bhp with a T2 mate, most have reached that figure with a T3
shame about the shell, id love to take it off your hands if you were a bit closer kent is a bit to go with a trailer i assume you live near si as hes around often

i know i just wanted a standard t2 for the moment untill iv rebuilt the engine and got it all sweet then i will start tuning it

Tell you what, Russ, just swap them about tomorrow (but mark the ones you think are bad ), and see if that affects anything. If you put the good ones on 1 and 2 and then pull the leads again, you'll soon know

yea its not looking like its going to be done for sunday hopefully when i swap the injectors over that will tell me more im going to get the rst ready to be gone tomorow so most of my day is going to be taken up doing that but i shall try and have a look at it...... can i not use the beige injectors im sure these are in the silvertop mondeos aint they if so i could go to the scrappy and get a few if it solves the problem just so i know it runs ok

Jony, that compression test shows that it's even, and being lower compression, it will naturally be lower than an engine of higher compression ratio. Also, how long the engine was turned over for will have an effect on the figure. But at that sort of compression test result, it should be running better than it is.

Silvertops are all side-fed, so they're no good for yours. You need end-fed injectors... And ideally, you need something that flows the same as yours do. They also need to be of the same impedance.
Are you actually aiming to get rid of the shell tomorrow? Or just getting it ready?

I was going to suggest swapping the injectors over (after marking them 1-4) to see if it makes any difference at all. At least you can rule out the injectors being at fault before buying another set. I would also try swapping the fuel tank/pumps over seeing as you have both, to see if that makes any difference.
My (broken) Rs turbo lump read 125 compression on the good cylinders, so 140 sounds ok (was the engine warm or cold?) At least it rules that out as being a problem.

yea i think i will test the injectors a few times but im starting to think it must be them lol

i have another idea aswell i was fidling with the bar that comes out of the actuator.... im told this adjusts the boost whoops im a dumbass
can anyone tell/show me how to adjust this so it is on the standard setting as i havent a clue how to do it and dont want to damage my engine running too much/too little

It will be near on impossible to tell how much boost you are running without a boost gauge. I wouldn't mess about with the actuator arm if I was you.

I think Russ has got a boost gauge in there, but just needs to know how to adjust it
I believe you need to wind the rod in to increase boost and wind it out to decrease it... I'm pretty sure that won't be what's causing your running issues though. I have a feeling you did leave it wound out quite a lot when you were putting your new turbo together though Someone might have an idea roughly how far out it needs to be

yes i have a boost gauge fitted, i just wanted a rough idea where about the rod is meant to be so i can check i havent tried puttin stupid amounts of boost through it or none at all just a safety precausion as i wuldnt like to of gone through all this trouble for my first drive to be really fast on 20 psi and blow the pistons turbo etc etc lol

na havent tried that yet mate as iv just started my new job and been working 7-7 everyday collecting my injectors from the post office tomorow as no1 was in to sign for them lol and then il be going up to ford to get the seals as i dont know of anywhere else near that i can get them, will they have to order them in? and does anyone know a rough price???

right i have my injectors and my injector seals, i should finish work around 2ish altho i dont actually have a finish time i will fit the new injectors and give her a whirl, if that doesnt solve the problem im completely stumped so i hope it does will keep you all updated

right fitted all the new injectors and injectors seals and its STILL not running right this is seriously doing my head in now i havent got the time to not have my car i need it running ASAP!
i think im just guna stick it in a garage soon and just throw money at them if they fix it
just took a few photos of all the inlet side of things to check with people if i have done all the vacuums etc. properly
this comes from somewhere underneath the inlet
this goes to the EDIS module i think it is??? (that black box in the top right corner of picture) or something on the same plate as it
this is the vacuum hose from the brake servo to the inlet manifold
this is the breather pot section
this is where i have earthed the two wires
i also found this in the rst shell in the glovebox dont have a clue what it is, is it important does anyone know???

well today is the day! my mechanic is coming around at 7pm tonyt so hopefully tonyt i will have an update and a vid of it running i really hope so im dreading going another day without my car
theres one thing i want to do more than anything is clean it

so happy its running all on four cylinders now
in the end no.1 and 2 injectors wernt gettin a pulse so we checked the wiring in the injector loom and although being a bit bodged by the previous owner it was all go so a make or brake moment was to check pin 58 on the ecu whether we had a constand between that and the loom and it turned out the plug going into the ecu the pin for no 58 was loose and wasnt making a contact to the ecu, pushed this back in turned the key and VROOOOM runs smooth as a nut
very happy with the outcome just a small job list for the weekend then i can have my baby back wash it and take some pictures
left to do:
align gearlinkage

chuck in some anti freeze as at the moment its just water
and a extremely happy drive home
