I dunno what they mean by your engine looked fairly tidy to me altho I didn't ear it run etc. was just a bit slow
on the 0-60 but everyone has their reasons
not at all mate I know how you meant it it does let the car down missing a chunk of the paint and big ol crack in it but it needed repainting anyway lol

Re: Russ' mint green FRST , UPDATE
well finally gathered all the parts together to get this fixed, also fitted new drums ,shoes, rear cylinders and everything else inside there , also fitted my 300mm brakes they are massive !
I painted them up all nice n mint then spilt brake fluid on them fitting the Brake hoses and realised they need a little grinding off them to fit anyway so was a waste of time painting them but never mind
also had the head skimmed this time, full victor reinz head gasket set and bolts, and noticed once I had the rocker cover off that the stud holding the rocker arm in on inlet cylinder 2 had stripped the thread out of the head so bought a helicoil kit an sorted that and then obviously new oil n filter and bought a new oil cap aswell from halfrauds was only about £3/4 and fits perfect intact looks identical to the CVH cap, haven't really taken many photos as iv had to do this all in between work etc.
but she is running now and I will give her a good wash and clean up over the weekend and get a load of pics for u guys
so happy it's back and the new brakes are monsters

I love them mate! so much more power to them and a much better feel finally happy with my brakes ATM thanks mate she's running like a dream ATM yea still running 15" vts wheels tbf they did need grinding but it wasn't a lot due to the offset of the wheels, about 1-2 mm off the corners of the carriers and a shaving off the caliper itself there is literally just enough room to get a rizzla through

Re: Russ' mint green FRST , small update
well not really too much to report If I'm honest, havnt really done much as of late, gave the car a clean as it hasn't been washed since ford fair and it was minging got some pics for ya'll
also gathered a couple of gooedies for it, which I'm hopin to fit ASAP, also jobs to do soon are : fit new goodies, finish of undersealing it, repaint brake calipers as I spilt brake fluid on them connecting the hoses to them and re fit my downpipe as some how managed to fit it back on wrong and now my exhaust system is pulled towards the front of the car and is knocking on stuff
also it's been pretty bad on fuel at the minute averaging 20mpg driving nice in town or on motorway, I'm thinking this is because I have no thermostat in ATM so it's making it run too cool, as on runs above 50 it sits in the bottom block and goin faster can almost get the needle flat again so I'm going to get a new stat and hopefully that solves that and I need a new fan as mine is buggered anyone know if you can fit 2 9" fans on these?

Re: Russ' mint green FRST , Broken again!! :@
well where to start, lately iv just been collecting bits and fixing the little jobs, now got a LSD gearbox sat in the kitchen just want to
fit a new clutch cable and thrust bearing web I change it over so got to get those diet before I can swap the boxes over.
now movin onto last night, was driving around like you do, and I just noticed somin was different, you know when u just have a bad feeling.. yea well I pulled over somewhere I could to have a look, popped the bonnet stuck a light in there n great! there's oil absolutely everywhere! all down the back of the engine n bay down the cambelt side and down the front, I don't k ow what's caused it but it dropped all of its oil whilst I was driving it and was pouring off of everywhere , obviously I stopped running it and got it towed home..
but now iv got to find out what's gone wrong, it ran perfectly fine tbf I just had a bad feeling lol
I will get some pics today to show you,
also could do with some help on something, my frst breather pot broke a while back and I haven't had the money to replace it, my mate gave me one of his escort but its quite different but I plumbed that in as thought its got to be better than nothing... could this have caused any problems????

Re: Russ' mint green FRST , Broken again!!!! :@
iv had the escort breather on there for a good 4 months or so lol turns out its not the breather anyway
stuck 4ltrs of oil in it yesterday and put my old breather pot on it to try it, started ran ok for a sec then noticed the oul all running straight back out its coming from the crank/oil pump area and running out of the cam cover it looks from on top, which the cam belt cover off and everything inside there is covered in oil so I'm thinking its either the oil pump or the crank seal yay.... can anyone tell me what either of these jobs are like to do? and I hope neither of them are a crank out jobbie are they???

Re: Russ' mint green FRST , Broken again... small update
wow haven't updated this in a while well the mass oil leak turned out to be the cam seal ha popped out of the hea so got a new one fitted, and also think my breather was blocked but as a ore caution I replaced it with a oil catch tank , since then iv just been buying parts n fitting them and plodding along as you do, got a load of parts sat in my room everything was going ok making progress buyin parts and getting it upgraded and then.... my head gasket went again
so new spec to be fitted once I get parts through n maching work done..
165 chip, forge actuator, pace double capacity intercooler, vibratechnics gearbox mounts, oil catch tank, new MLS cometic head gasket, possibly arp bolts but not sure if I can afford to spend te money for the gains? also sat around I have new fan, 88deg thermostat, anti freeze n shiz, trying to find some fully synthetic oil for a realistic price??? 2 new wishbones n bolts to go with, escort lsd gearbox, new oil, new clutch cable, and gunna give it a good clean n paint it, any ideas?? don't want somin in ya face more subtle probably gunna go silver? ... wow took longer to get the money than list te goods haha and going to be gettin a few more green hoses, repaint my engine and all the rocker covers etc. when its done
will get pics n stuff as and when things happen. I know its just a load of writing but any comments etc welcome
I will finish this one day.... I will finish this one day... lol

your telling me bloody thing lol my head gasket problems have been out down to cheap crappy gaskets so going with a steel 1 this time
althouigh didnt you just paint the engine and head?!
yea I did but tbh it was a rushed job and thin in places sl when cleaning it some has flaked off
glad things are being servie=ced and uprated here and there
thought about it the other day the only thing I havnt changed is the internals off the bottom end, everything else has been changed/re newed... vibra technics mounts make a MASSIVE difference and so much nicer to drive with these fitted btw I went fast road , has a few rattles/vibrations on idle but as son as over 12/1300 Rpm goes dead smooth
