Russ' mint green FRST , update :)
Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D
Smo :I know roughly what they look like, but not sure what the thread size is... Got to be either M6 or M8 I guess. If you're looking for them in your pile of bits, they're black About 1" to 1"1/2 long if I remember rightly
everything in my pile of bits is black i thouht i had the bolts from when i removed it but they were 13mm's and when i went to use them they felt too big and wouldnt thread in so i suppose i need to find a smaller thread i think they were an m10 so id imagine m6 m8 sounds about right will have to take a trip to the scrappy me thinks, shame i couldnt salvage some bits off my cousons xr2i as i was working and couldnt get to it before it was scrapped
i will probs be in your place of work on monday simon to order a few bits for the car as i finally get paid then, i think i need a new alternator belt adding to the list aswell now
i was driving home the other night and thought i could here a slight squeeling like the belt , and then further down the road i noticed the interior lights were a bit dim, then the battery light came on on the clocks and the car kept spluttering and dyin, so id imagine the belt has snapped/fallen off bloody thing i shall soon find out tho
thanks for your help so far to everyone it seems like its starting to get there now

ahh they must of been the wrong bolts i dug out then lol, well after replacing the cambelt kit waterpump alternator and starter motor and the battery all it needed was a little patch weliding in the drivers side front wing but his parents said he had to move the car and he had no where to put it so had no choice but to scrap it

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D NEED HELP!!!!!
well im really not sure what to do now with the car, im thinking of selling it
i still absolutely love the car to bits and it means the world to me but it just seems to be gettin more and more unreliable and everything seems to go wrong when i cant afford it to, its only little jobs that need doing to it but everytime i try to fix it something else gets in the way, like for instance last nyt dropped the gf off at home and on the way home the battery gave up for like the 3rd time this month, finally got it drop tested and yep the battery is f**cked, iv had a slight oil leak from the oil return for a while and i got the gasket through today to sort it went to fit it everything was going ok and then i snapped one off the bolts for the oil return in the turbo then i went to replace the speedo cable as my speedo stopped working, waited 3 weeks for the cable to come through went to fit it turned out to be a right pig off a job finally changed the cable and then realised that the speed sensor that goes into the gearbox was broken and not the cable so went and got a new one today, went to fit it to find that the pin from the old speed sensor has gotten stuck in the gearbox so i cant fit the new one...... this is the kinda luck iv been gettin with my car constantly for the past month or so, the thing is i absolutely love my car and if someone was to come and offer me 10k cash 2 months ago i woulda laughed at them and said no but im starting to wonder whether its gone past the point of love and is just stupidness now and where do you learn when to say enough is enough or do you keep on replacing bits and paying bills you cant afford too
seriously need help now as im completly torn i couldnt bare to see someone buy my car and drive it away as i think id have a breakdown but i dont think i can bare anothere thing to go wrong with it as id end up setting it on fire
what do i do?????

if you love it that much, you'll see it through
the battery issue isntt he battery to blame, sounds like the alternator is f**cked and is over cgarging the battery, this is what kills them, so replace the alternator
the other things can be sorted with patiance

Re: Russ' mint green FRST :D NEED HELP!!!!!
the battery problem IS the battery why does no1 listen to me when i say this iv had a drop test done on the battery and it cant hold a current, it has been killed so many times over the conversion due to constant cranking and loose wires etc.
it will get sorted i dont think i can bare to not see it finished

Get it sorted
And I don't know if that battery price was any good, I told him to go as best as he could for you, but don't know how it compared to other places

Are we talking front or rear arb? Ive never seen a difference in them between the mk3 and 3.5. Did you change the lower arm carriers when you swapped the engine etc as i dont think the smaller engines has the threaded holes to fit front arb or the rear beam to fit a rear one
