Maybe your needle has got stuck does it go up? Mine only goes up from 1/4 so if i have 1/4 tank or less in. It just reads 1/4 but if I put a full tank in it will go up to full then cone back sown and stop at 1/4 again

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
take the wiring plug off from the top of the tanks pump/sender unit, easy to do from under the back seat, if the gauge on the dash is working/moving freely and fine it should drop to the very bottom of its scale. would be a easy away of proving if the gauge is sticking/faulty or not..
I Put a brand new tank in mine last year now my gauge reads 3/4 when the tanks full worked fine before, but it dose go all the way down to empty

Nice one mate cheers for that will trey it out and see what's what, if the gauge is working fine then it's got to be the fuel pump surely? I am looking into getting a updated pump (walbro or something) how do these work I font have to fit the float etc. Off my standard one do I ??

good point the gauge without a high enough feed will drop down to the bottom on its own, if it stays at a quarter then its a fault in the gauge

If you fit a new pump you'll still have to use your existing sender unit, so if that's at fault you'll not fix it by a pump change, so fit another sender unit when fitting ya pump if you think thats at fault, but they do weird things when disturbed it seems, as for mine, was working 100% fine, fitted new tank now only reads 3/4 when full to the brim!? Think i'll live with mine as not the nicest of job's dropping the tank

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
Well I had a look at unplugging the pump to see if it was the dial or not but as my car is a mk3.5 I can't get to the plug as it's slightly out of reach due to the RS pump being different to the 1.3 pump so im not sure what to do now as what ever I do the tank is going to have to cone down lol so might just leave it in until I can afford a new updated pump

But with the clOcks unplugged then they will be getting no power so whenbi switch the ignition on they won't move will they? As they ain't gettin a feed to tell it whether to move up or down? Surely??

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
From what Jay has been telling me it's the filter bag? On the bottom of the pump nerds rotating as it has a long and shorter side and if the longer side is the same side as the float then it wont drop all the way down.. Makes sense it is that lol

bugger
me and the missus went up to Birmingham to visit sea life then Warwick castle, entering a parking place at the Birmingham area multi story, the speed hump took my exhaust mid section off, luckly though i have a slide in joint
was just a case of jack the car up and slot it back in, had to wear woollen gloves though

Re: Russ' mint green FRST UPDATE
Well haven't updated this thread in quite a while as I haven't figured out how to upload photos on my I phone and my computer is buttered lol so here goes:
well finally sorted the fuel gauge problem turned out to be that the RS pump and float was mounted at an angle and therefore when the float was at the lowes point it was actually 10mm higher than the 1.3 float so I just swapped over the pump itself onto the 1.3 float and unit and works fine now, only thing is I had this fitted above he RS pump and wasn't on the 1.3 pump so i decided to leave it on but j can't mount the pump in the cage so to speak with this on so could anyone tell me what the gold circle thing is above the pump here?? And can I remove it??
Also I fixed the seat base on my recaro seat as I was sitting half a foot below my passengers lol so took a few snaps whilst doing that: this is he before picture where you can clearly see the seat base has dropped
So I removed the seat and saW this
so got out the new seat base and set to fitting the bars and pins to it
all done and clipped into position
and back in and lookin much better also alot comfier now too

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
Also remembered that I never uploaded a picture of my brakes when fitted so here you go
And also got rid of he frascatti sticker and upgraded to a more truthfull badge
also ran over the engine bay with a rag and degreaser and came up Pretty well
and then gave her a quick wash
also here you can see that I have the spoiler fitted now
I have the paint sitting in my parts cupboard to do the bumpers and RS bonnet with weather and time permitting aswell as the cambelt kit and cover and new waterpump to fit when I find the time

The only thing that's left of it being a frascatti the colour and the windows so it's slot more of an RS than it is a frascatti lol I don't care if it's not 'genuine' of not I'm not that feeble...

Yeah I know j drew the lines up so I knee if was straight and then realised it was low after sticking half of it down oh well lol

Re: Russ' mint green FRST
Well had a problem with the car last night it's something electrical as I was just sitting there with the engine off and everything off after driving for s good half hour, and the battery was flat so jumped if drove home and on the way the lights were getting dimmer the rev counter got stuck at 2k and using full beam almost made it stall and the car was loosing power all the way home so it must be a power drain somewhere ??? It's just had a new alt belt the battery is about 4 months old if that and it has never had any problems before so I doubt it was the alternator
