TonyMk2 ::rolleyes: shown how much attention i paid, i like the 2 fords side by side and 2 volvo's in a line using just 3 cars to achieve this. I so need some more cars

Lol!

Pawl, nice. If I owned one of those I'd go around telling people "they're 500bhp you know" just to wind them up.

Yes but dave you love the 997 so hard you put toy ones up your bum so if you are ever hit by a bus and die and they do an autopsy they will know for sure you rate the 997

This isn't really modding, just making a few neccessary changes. Have you seen how high it sits

It might just be because of the colour, but all the 500s I've seen seem to look much higher than the normal FRSs. Not sure if that's the case though?

I've done a few bits to it since I bought it, first up was the Milltek cat-back non-resonated system with ceramic black tailpipes. It took just over an hour to fit, I had to cut off the original exhaust as it's a 1-piece and fits over the rear suspension.

Image

Image

Image

Next up was a spot of lowering courtesy of a set of H&R springs.

Original comedy height as it was

Image

A vast improvement!

Image

I also fitted an H&R track-widening kit F&R, basically a set of spacers that are bolted onto the hubs, 15mm each side front, 20mm each side rear.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

I've got some other bits on order, a lower torque mount which is a rear engine steady, said to improve gearchange and prevent the fwd equivalent of axle tramp. I also have a set of powerflex front arm bushes on order as I've found the front end to be a little on the squidgey side, the front end dives all over the place under heavy braking.

Future mods that might happen sooner than anticipated is the Mountune MP375 set up, as I'm already an RS500 owner the cost is £1350 inc Vat for a 3" downpipe, sportcat, Mountune inlet manifold and an uprated boost solenoid plus the Mountune remap. The reason I say it may happen soon is that the FRs has an issue with blowing inlets to pieces and the Mountune inlet is nearly 600 quid on its own so it makes sense to buy it as part of a kit.

I also need to buy some decent car wash & polish stuff, I've seen some Swissvax Opaque which is especially formulated for Satin Matt paintowrk & vinyl. Not cheap but I want to keep it looking nice, so many people seem to slate the wrap but if it's looked after it should look great for a few years yet!

I'm loving this car at the moment, I'm not sure I can see a reason to keep the Mk1 FRS but as it's fully taxed, insured & MOT'd until next year I'll probably keep it until then and then decide.

It goes without saying I am sure, but first refusal please :)

Looks even better lower and wider, and I absolutly love the black tailpipes! :D

Looks great, tailpipes fit well with the theme and the suspension bits make the car look like it should as well.

It would be a shame to see the Mk1 go but not so much if Dave has it! I didn't think you'd want to keep both once you'd driven the new one even though it would be a nice collection.

Looks loads better mate, Pumabuild are doing the Mountune inlets for £475 delivered unpainted atm.

what torque link did you get ?, I've got an Elevate one on order.

After looking at the various tuners I'll be going either JWR 100 or 120.

I just need a car now of course

As i'm going Sportcat & downpipe anyway I may as well get the Mountune setup as it actually works out cheaper in the long run. I've ordered the Elevate torque mount as well, missed out on the FRSOC group buy but got free post.

Mine defo needs the front polybushed, I had a slight moment yesterday, caning it on full boost on a straight road, hit an uneven surface and thought I was gonna gammon slipper a car coming the other way :o The ST225 Powerflex bushes fit so I've ordered those. I'm still looking for a front camber correction, not sure there is one available yet?

I remember you saying you weren't happy with the front end set up, once you've polybushed it a 4 wheel alignment will probably help as well.

I missed out on the g/b for the torque mount also missed the free postage as I ordered it a day before that came on the board

I seemed to have missed this thread

But welcome squire to mk2 Focus RS ownership :D :D

I see your picking some good upgrades, i have H&R springs on mine and think the stances is perfect. Highly recommend any torque mount upgrade to get rid of the horrible engine wobble. Not sure on stopping axle tramp though
Guys are really liking the MR375 upgrade, but there are alternatives if you get bored

Priority is get the inlet changed! Get Moutune, Elevate or whatever ...... just get the crappy plastic one changed ASAP!

Im now running the JWR120 map which recently rollered at 377bhp @ wheels and 395lb/ft :D

Just good luck with looking after that wrap!

Thanks mate! Having driven it a little with the H&R's I can't see why people complain they're too low & harsh, I reckon they're a better ride than std and not that low tbh. Will probably go for the MR375 fairly soon.

WRT the wrap I've ordered a shed-load of Swissvax stuff including an Opaque wax supposedly designed for matt paint & wrap.

Powerflex bushes turned up today, might get round to fitting them on Saturday and then get it tracked up. Have you changed any bushes yet?

IIRC Greg was quite surprised at my response to the ride in his, I couldn't possibly describe it as harsh. Firm? Yes, harsh? Definitely not.

I agree the ride is firm but it is certainly not harsh.

I highly recommend Jw Racing for any re-map work. Jason uses Autotech software, which is a company based in Sweden and have been re-mapping the Volvo 5 pot for years!

He can easily do you an upgrade and be up to the JWR120 ..... i.e 400bhp+ :D

You will get a handset which can hold your original mp350 map and more ...... i currently have 5 maps on mine

The JWR/Autotech maps are the most consistent out there and ...... without naming names ..... one of the safest :)

I seriously doubt it tbh, went out in Pauls the other day and its quick but its would be left by the M3, yours has a bit more I know, but not enough more. I think a 400+ one would be there. Most M3 drivers really dont try hard enough. My brother utterly embrassed a standard looking FRS MK2 a while back.

M3 spec's say 0-60 in 4.6s and 414bhp so with FWD you'd probably need 450bhp at least.

I don't normally join in with these "who's got the biggest penis" discussions, but I'll make an exception this time

Standard Focus RS 325 lbs/ft torque 1467kg , M3 V8 295lbs/ft torque 1580kg, RS500 Focus 339lbs/ft torque, Greg's motor, 395lbs/ft torque

It's all about torque and the Focus has loads of it even in standard form.
