S2 Turbo Lump Into Fezzy

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

I have read the post about putting a Fezzy turbo Lump into a xr2i , but is there much involved in putting a escort S2 tubo lump into a Xr2i, is the turbo setup similar to a Frst ?

What sort of wiring loom changes would have to be made ?

Has anyone done a conversion, did u get any problems ?

Help would be much appreciated

Only major grief as follows - you will need to get a T3 conversion kit or do your homework on fitting the larger turbo, as the rad needs moving forward a bit.

Fuel pump and possibly tank needs replacing. Not sure if fuel systems are different as Escort uses a swirl pot and relay to limit the amount of fuel being pumped in, while the Fiesta has a fuel rail under pressure, inlet air pressure-controlled regulator, and that's about it.

Air filter and fuel swirl pots will get in the way of the battery, so this will probably need either moving into the boot or the bulkhead above the ECU cutting and the battery installing there.

Loom wise, swap them completely.

There's loads more, but I'm not even gonna start giving you more dodgy advice - that's plenty! /Al

Hi Mattjack.

This is a conversion i have looked at doing myself, The ERST fuel injection is better when it's set up properly.....

From what i can see, the ERST rad and intercooler will go in but will need moving forward maybe 25mm, but they are also slightly wider than fiesta items.

Battery will have to go in boot, and as for the wiring most fuel injection systems just have a few wires to change.

Use a escort engine harness and connect these wires.

Ignition feed.
Starter solenoid.
rev counter.
fuel pump relay (depending how u do it !)
possibly an GND.

The only real problems r gonna be with the fuel supply :

ERST uses mechanical FI - pump pressure 6 bar
FRST and XR2I use EFI - pump pressure max 5 bar

I think u can buy high pressure fuel pumps for the EFI, but not sure.
Failing that, possibly a way to submerse a escort pump in to fiesta tank. They r much bigger but i think it would probably work !!!

only other option is to cut fiesta tank and fit swirl pot from ERST tank.

Let me know what u think.. Any one else any ideas..

Andy.
