turboboy67 :Well I said 4

8 :-? , So if you go to make a sandwich and theres only one piece of bread left,

does that mean you can't have one :-?

Only if you're one of the people who think you need two slices.

The rest of us normal folk will be fine.

your not normal  normal is 2 slices of bread per sandwhich, and as asked in the first place..

Scort :
James and myself have been arguing today about how many slices of bread are required to make four sandwiches.

when you open the bread its cut in slices not slices cut in half (and he didnt say anything about them being cut :P ), and thats the thing, 1 bit of bread cut in 2 makes 2 halfs, not 2 slices, so a sandwhich cut in to 2 is 2 halfs, 2 halfs of 1 sandwhich.

when you only have 1 bit of bread its means its a poor mans roll, and you need to go shopping, thats it, its still half a sandwhich.

I threw in a couple of wildcards to throw off the scent!!

So far then, by the looks of the poll, us normal folks say that 1 sandwich is equal to 1 piece of bread.

I'm glad this is going in my favour, Jim wouldn't be able to hide his smugness all next week if it had come out at 8 pieces.

wtf

if i had a car, and cut it in half, would that be 2 cars? no, its 1 car cut in half.

if i got another car, cut that in half, i dont have 4 cars. if i then welded the front of 1 to the rear of another, im back with 1 whole car

no youve got a deathtrap that the dvla will rape you for owning

and anyway by the logic you are using then you can make 8 sandwiches from 1 piece of bread. its impossible to say how many from how many slices. so no matter what happens everbody is wrong and everybodys right at the same time. congratulations mr steve and mr james, its a paradox.

no, as you need 2 parts to make a "sandwhich" meaning your have to cut the loaf in half, then it would be one big fcuk off sandwhich     , the thickness of the slices is not important, its the amount of them:P

Yeah but you just said that if you cut a peice of bread in half then it only counts as a half sandwich. So surely by your own logic, cutting the loaf in half means you'll only end up with a half sandwich... albeit a large one. :P

you just getting silly now, you know you cant fold a loaf of bread    .
anyway, heres one for ya, if you cut the loaf in the middle so, 2 big slice's it could be a sandwich, but if you cut it along its lengh would it then become a baguette because of its lengh

anyway, 8 slices to 4 sandwichs, anyone who thinks different is "special"

One of the highlights of my day is lunch time where I have my 3 sandwiches, using 6 slices of wholemeal. It doesn't take too long to go through a loaf...

So if I went to scort's house I'd have to ask for 6 sandwiches?! That's just madness!

I would have said 8, but according to the British Sandwich Association (yes, really...)

The British Sandwich Association defines a sandwich as: Any form of bread with a filling, generally assembled cold - to include traditional wedge sandwiches, as well as filled rolls, baguettes, pitta, bloomers, wraps, bagels and the like, but not burgers and other products assembled and consumed hot. Hot eating sandwiches are also included.

so Scort's actually right, who can argue with the British Sandwich Association?

I think you'll find that if you consult thee English Sandwich Club and at least one other society (I already have!), they will inform you that the recipe for ALL sandwiches begins with TWO SLICES OF BREAD per sandwich!

Wikipedia knows where it's at.

That is all :)

Scort :So say I cut one slice of bread into half and made a sandwich with it, whats that? It can't be half a sandwich as its not half of anything, its a whole, therefore one sandwich.

You lot are taking two pieces of bread, and making a sandwich, then cutting it into two. Therefore making two whole sandwiches. If for instance you don't cut it in half, you then just have a double sized sandwich.

I am correct!

:D

Steve

im with steve on this one! if you look in sainsburys or other supermarket when they have a pack of 3 sandwiches they are called a triple pack not a one and half pack!!!

Can believe no one has thought of this....... IF A SANDWICH CANNOT BE A SANDWICH WHEN 2 SLICES ARE CUT IN HALF, WHAT DO YOU CALL A SINGLE PIECE OF BREAD FOLDED IN HALF!!!! THAT IS STILL A SANDWICH!

So by that logic you only need 4 to make 4 sandwiches!

a peice of bread folded in half is a lazy pikey sandwich. I dont actually know how anyone could eat one. Its only ok for a quick chip butty!

How is this arguement still raging? I am gonna call you later Scort, and give you some work, so you can afford 2 slices of bread! :P

as has been said several times before a sandwich has to consist of 2 pieces of bread. one above and one below the filling. so technically one of scorts half sandwiches of the ante-christ IS a sandwich but in the real world it isnt its just half a sandwich or a poor mans roll. it is not a real sandwich.

mind you a southern poof probably couldnt manage a whole sandwich thats why hes arguing it so much. :D
