sandwich plate

Could anyone out there tell me if the inlet manifold sandwhich plate from the 2 litre zetec could be fitted to the 1.8 efi inlet manifold, since there's a step change from the 1.8 manifold to the 2 litre block??? I can't check because the engine's at a garage!

I'm not sure why you ask but assuming you are worried about the step change on performance/flow etc etc my advice is don't worry about it. When I did my 1.6 to 2.0 conversion i noted that Mark Stewart had spent ages filing at this plate to smooth out the transition to help flow, ie get rid of the step change between the head and the inlet manifold.

I spoke at length to Dave at Puma Racing who convinced me (he knows his Zetecs i can tell u) that it was just not worth the effort trying to blend the step out because the flow is from the smaller inlet tract then on to the larger inlet manifold in the 2.0 head.

So is you are going 1.8 to 2l just use the sandwich plate from the 1.8--it will fit straight on
