What are the first things you would do when you had picked p a new car.

i.e. change filters etc.

change oil + all filters + change the timing belt as soon as you can !!

Theres a receipt for a new timing belt just 16 months ago. Guess i should get it re-done to be sure.

Hi.

Yes, oil/oil filter change for sure, thats the blood of any car. If the belt was done by a decent garage & you know for sure it has been done, it shouldn't need doing, but having the belt changed doesn't cost much & then you know for sure it has been done - if you actually watch it been done.

Other things - spark plugs - these normally get left out of services, id change them too,& for the price of an air filter - might aswell get that changed (unless its got an induction kit on,lol), check the brake discs & pads, calipers,brake pipes/flexis, get the drums off & check shoe linings, check behind rubber dust cover on each side of each rear wheel cylinder for leaks, (theyre sometimes moist) Id check the under bonnet levels, i.e - brake fluid, power steering fluid(if appl), coolant fluid - change - then you know thats o.k too, - cheap & easy to do & can save you problems in the future. Get under the car & check for rust etc...- sills etc... think thats about it,lol...
