Hello.First of all the engine must be on working temperature. So you will take it for a normal drive, without ragging it since you don't know how it is setup right now,and when the temp gauge is around at the middle,(even better if you hear the cooling fan, wait to stop),and start the procedure. At idling you should have around 14.7 A/F ratio.Under full boost you must not read higher than 12.It is a bit rich, but it is a precaution.I have set it up at 11.7,it uses the extra fuel for cooling the piston crowns.Under decceleration, without pressing the accelerator pedal, values of 22 is normal, especially on downhills with gear in the gerabox. To set the fueling, turn the Co pot in half turns, and wait a bit to stabilize.Turning it counterclockwise enrichens, and clockwise it makes the mixture lean. The general rule is that the lowest value means richer A/F ratio, higher value means lean.Under cruise and without pressing the pedal, try to drive at around 13.5-14.5,this is where economy is.Keep in mind that for the readings to be correct, all the exhaust system must be sealed. That means that if your exhaust is blowing somewhere,or the exhaust manifold gaskets etc are not sealing, you will have incorrect readings.Where exactly did you fixed the sensor? It must be fixed in a specific way to last longer.Did you calibrated it on open air prior to fitting it on the exhaust tube?

Its a probe tester that goes into the exhaust I will be using so probably not as accurate as a gauge kit one I guess. So itl be checked at the back box. The other problem from what youve said is I wont be able to check on boost I will only be able to check it at idle and I dont think it reads the same kind of figures so will I still be able to do it, my brother has a lambda sensor hooked up for a voltmeter he used for his car to check his emissions would I be better using that method and where is best for the sensor within the exhaust system for most accurate reading but also long life for the sensor. I would love to get a wideband air/fuel gauge kit but i dont have enough money for one

Well, you can use the probe in the exhaust, but general this is not a very accurate way due to the fact that it is in the end of the exhaust and incoming air could alter the readings. Also you should check the boost readuings too, just for ease of mind, you can't be sure for the combustion conditions under boost otherway I am afraid.I asked for the lamda sensor placement due to the fact that it must me bolted with the tip pointing downwards in an angle to avoid water from condensation getting in.Also it can't be too close to the turbo,it will have shorter life.In general it can be placed 10-15 cm downstream the turbo. Also something last. You can't take readings on a turbo engine with a narrow band,it will allways show rich, mostly due to low resolution. It's readings is more of the kind "rich" or "lean" only compared to a value for how much lean or rich of a wideband.I know that they are expensive, but it is one of the more importand gauges to monitor your engine, especially if you rag it often. It's price is a fraction of the price for an overhaul for example.Just keep it in mind and try to buy it at some time. :)

thanks buddy i am actually looking right now and just considering buying a aem wideband afr gauge kit and fitting one, as its better as you said i can check boost and idling fuel mixture, i think if i use the probe analyser one it only reads co content so id still have to calculate the ratio compared to a gauge telling me upfront, thanktyou so much though for your help and whatever i do i will be using this thread for the procedure very soon

As far it is wideband, you will have no problem.AEM is a well known company,so don't worry.
