i use it in my Scirocco and yes it makes a HUGE difference!!! ive been using it for a while now and switched back to normal unleaded to see if i could notice the difference...and YES I DID!!! the car wasnt pulling no where as hard as what it used to with the other petrol so ive carried on using it...
oh and ive noticed that i am able to go off the clock with optimax a fair bit quicker than what i did with normal unleaded...about a mile quicker!!!

EVO magazine did a professional test on a number of their Fast Fleet cars, ranging from a Honda Civic Type-R to a Jag and the results were very impressive. Optimax cleaned the engine and gave better performance figures after 1500 miles of use than Super Plus.

I dont know if its any better but I warn all of you to steer clear of Sainsburys petrol, the stuff doesnt last anywhere near aslong miles wise as the bigger brand names such as Esso, Texeco etc, I seriously think its been watered down or summut cause for £15 one week I get 90 miles which is s**t considering its a 1.6s and the next week for £15 get 190 miles from Esso fuel!!!!
now sold but not forgotten!

Sorry mate couldn't resist
Anyway I agree this stuff is fappin great, I noticed a huge difference when I put it in my car the other week for the first time, revved smoother, accelerated better and just generally made the engine feel more lively.
And I managed to hit 119 in the morning on the way home from Southend - 3 up aswell - usually I can only muster 110 but this time the engine just kept pulling all the way to 6.5k!
Well worth the money, thankyou Shell

is this optimax fuel supposed to show improvements from the first fill up or does it have to be used a few times to do the above said things ?!?!
i filled my car up with it this morning and apart from it feeling a bit smoother whilst accelerating, i haven't noticed any other changes, my Si still drives like it always has.
not that i'm complaining cos i only got 1ltr less of fuel for my £20 compared to normal unleaded, but i'd appreciate some answers
thanks
Xander

It does give a little more poke, but hard to notice, its original intent was for cars that 'require' higher octane fuel, ie jap imports.
Add some NITROX and u might notice it more, this will take u up to about 101 - 102RON

I have found a little diff when using it on the Clio, but it gets normal unleaded most of the time. Will have to test out the economy thing... best I've got so far is 350 miles to a tank.

err only if it dets, all depends on spec, mines mapped to use 95ron. useful if its mapped on 95 and and u plan to cain it HARD ie round a track, gives u more protection against detting if engine temps go high.

Optimax is definately worth using in a turbo'd car as it will mean if your car sometimes pinks (detonates) it shouldnt do and makes a bigger barrier between the car setup right and pinking.
Its worth using not in turbo car, I use it in my XR2 and can tell the difference between that and unleaded without a doubt.

Me too. Been using for 150 miles only on my XR2i, but got to 210 kph for the first time ever the other day (my previous record was close to 200).
A part of that is due to the bigger wheels, but I'm sure Optimax had its share in it as well.
