shifter problems

hi guys im running a b&m shifter.everything was all fine and dandy until I took my car down the strip at pod.ive changed to 2nd to hard and now its like stirring soup.i can still get gear just about.its defo nothing in the gearbox as ive got the shifter off and had it in bits and you still feel the sloppiness..has most of you will know theres no springs or anything inside the linkage set up like on the standard stuff..can anyone point me in the right direction?anyone else had this problem? cheers
