Shortshift / quickshift MK3 fiesta

Postby Jur on Mon Nov 28, 2005 11:33 am

Ok, i've been looking for a affordable (yeah i'm Dutch) shortshift / quickshift sollution for my MK3 turbo.

B&M has a sollution .. but it's near 180 quid (incl postage to holland)
Burton has a sollution (whole gear linkage system)

but i found this:
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2011

In being a DIY kit for a short shifter (escort MK4 .. but it should be the same for a MK3 fiesta) for only 45 quid .. .. but is it worth any ??

it looks the same as the burton power assembly (only being a kit in stead of a complete system)

and .. does anyone have any experience with this kit ??

greets

from holland

dont know, but if you buy one let me know how it goes cos ive been looking for one for a while

there used to be a mk2 xr2 site about with a guide on how to custom make a short shift, but it was taken off the net a while back :(

you could try ringing up and asking if it will fit a frst?

B&Ms are crap as standard - return springs simply aren't up to the job.

Have you thought about trying the Puma/Zetec S shifter? You'd need to add a neutral return spring, but they're plentiful and about 25% shorter (B&M ones are, iirc, about 35% shorter).

How much you reckon on paying for a ZS or Puma shifter in the scrap then?

how do you actually go about adding the return springs al?

have thought about trimming one down before as well to reduce throw as they are stupidly long as std anyways!
