Should i chase up?
Basically bought a rear quad axle of chap and paid through paypal stupidly paid via personal payment and never got the part. This is about a month ago. I managed to get guys number and postcode. Guy wouldnt answer his phone till i threatned to go to police his words were " go to police, do you know who i am". I said to him il let police sort and he then went on to say oh my mate used my account. s**t. Now paypal are refusing to help with this matter. Ive spoken to bank but do you think its worth going to police? As soon as i mentioned police he took everything he had off ebay.

Re: Should i chase up?
ya gota do some thing about it ?
personally i would write the money off , but if you do have the address an mobile number you could make his life rather complicated ?
as in put some local ads in the papers to where he lives for things for sale so cheap his fone would ring off the hook ,
and with his address you could allways do the school boy stuff bit petty but hey he sounds like a penis !
how much did he have ya off with ??
the likes of ebay they should have a name and shame section , not just for the user names but their addresses to cross reference if they have bin a menace in the past .
good luck

The police wont do anything about it. It'll cost them more money to sort it out than it's worth.
If anything, all they will do is go to his house and have a chat with him asking to give the money back and thats about it. Unless you can prove the money you sent was for the item ect, they cant do an aweful lot.

Re: Should i chase up?
wont make a difference, you only get PayPal protection through proper payments, if you sent as personal money owed, PayPal is basically saying, thats your problem, which unfortunately, it is, no one should ever pay for something on ebay via personal payment etc, std PayPal payment only, as you would be covered in this situation.
as for going to the guys house, the chance of the getting the money back that way is 50/50 at best, but it would cost you in travel, is the extra expense worth it for £40? in some cases principle is worth more, but if you do go to see him, take some back up, you dont know what your find when you get there, he could be a skinny nerd, on the other hand he could be built like a brick $hit house and have 4 brothers just like him
take it on the chin as lesson learnt, £40 is a lot of money in one way, but its not the end of the world in another, if it were £400, then i would of already been to introduce him to my fist

Re: Should i chase up?
I agree entirely with Jay, for 40 quid it's not worth the hassle. It's not just a case of go and gob off at him and it's cost you petrol, he knows where you live so (I'm guessing) where your kid lives too; if you went round there he might have half a dozen tooled up mates with him. You simply don't know and the sheer effort involved in casing the bloke out to ensure you come out on top isn't worth the hassle you'd get long term.
Chalk it up to experience, go with the schoolboy mischief s**t or just ensure that everyone knows not to deal with him (this includes ebay). No comebacks for you or yours then.

as said though, write it off as bad luck and just be more wary next time, its not worth the effort, make sure your boy knows that there are people like that around everywhere!
