i take it ur talking about the 1.6si, if so there wouldn't be any competition the si would leave the nova for dust!

though most Si's are totally standard, u will find that novaboys with 1.4sr's will almost def have done something to the engine, which would make it a better race. though the Si would cane the nova still.
though the 1.4Si i recon wud get beaten, cus the sr's are quite sporty models but wud be tight.

yeah 1.6 Si's do piss all over 1.4sr N**a's, we have plenty of them rotboxes round my way, vey satisfying upsetting them

also 1.6 astras are easy prey, for the simple fact, the Si has longer gearing and can outpace them no problem, found that out today :D

0-60 the nova would give you a run for your money easy. There after the Fiesta would pull away from the nova as the 16v would then come into its own.

You gotta remeber 8v's like the 1.4 Sr are quick of the mark and dont underestimate them !!!!

Watch out for some of these 1.4 nova SR's! One of my mates has one and he's done nothing to the engine apart from a bolt on filter and the usual BB2! But this thing is rapid for what it is. Last car was a 1.8 GTi mitsubishi colt 138bhp i think, and he could keep up with 3 in the car even when it was just me!

I've had a look under the bonnet and there's no sign of carbs or anything like that, i still can't put my finger on it, it's defo a 1.4. The 1.6 novas used to be wasted with ease by this GTi. Strange!

There's no way a 1.6Si would keep up with any SR's like that. Apparently some are mysteriously like that whereas others are like 1.4's should be!

Any ideas?

They are very light cars and with a 1.4 80bhp lump theyre not shy. And as most are modded be careful! twin 40s seem commonplace on the ones ive found, and a filter zorst and carb rejet is normally the minimum they do. I hate novas but there are some wolf in sheeps clothing ones out there. go teach him a lesson

Having owned a 1.4SR and now the Si imo i would say the Nova would win.

Put it this way - My SR (standard bar a piper back box) would of beaten my Si

a well set up 1400sr will eat a Saxo VTR all the way through the rev range, i know that from experience.

i wouldnt have thought an si would be any competition for the ickkle sr.
