Si Conversion To TURBO

Postby markbmw on Fri Jun 27, 2003 9:43 am

Picked up a Fiesta Si (1995/M) this week. What work is involved in converting it to a turbo?? What will i need and roughly how much will it cost??
Any help appreciated.

Ive looked into it and your looking at about 4k.
Iv been advised its really not worth turboing the 1.6, its better to drop in a 2 litre lump and turbo that. It'l cost the same and u'll have more torque and power

a plain 2.0 zetec with no mods is only 5 or 6 brake down on a turbo anyway, plus no lag :)

a standard 2.0 is 3 bhp up on an standard rst enigne, the rst being 133 bhp and the 2.0 being 136 bhp.

i think he means turbo'ing his 1.6 anyway :)

hello i have a 1.6 zetec turbo.. but technically speaking its a 1.8! theres alot of work involved to convert you need custom plates making (ian howell's the man to speak to on this matter) to adapt manifold/ rst inlet etc.. also you need to make room for cooler and zetec engine bigger than cvh so some cutting and fitting required (or again get a smaller radiator made and bigger intercooler fitted) many people would probably say go the route of zvh but either way your looking between £4-£5K for a good job...keep us posted thought and when mines sprayed i'll get some pictures up thanks tom
