SI fans out there!

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby andyc on Thu Sep 13, 2001 7:00 am

Ok peeps. Just registered on this site so i could join in all the fun. Need some suggestions from people. Here are the specs of my 1.4 SI so far:
clear rear clusters, Mk 4 rear wiper, debagded all round, complete re-srapy of interior (colour-coded), 16" alloys, Remus backbox, M3 mirrors, Kenwood mask system, 12" kicker comp sub and kicker amp etc etc.

Im after a badboy bonnet with RST vents and a scooby scoop and i've been quoted £150 for the lot inc fitting and spraying. Is this any good? And also a quote to get my baby turbo'd for £1500. Price comparrison anyone? :???:

Welcome - This site should more than cater for your needs.

The price for the bad boy bonnet sounds like a bargin to me.

Are you open to suggestions???

What with the Si being a smooth looking car anyway, and yours being debadged, i reckon rst vents and scooby scoop will spoil the look.

Just get the bonnet de-badged, with the swage line below it filled, and the bad-boy eyebrows done. Not exactly original but still mint.

Vent or scoop, both is overkill I think.

What did the turbo conversion involve?

If it's a proper low compression setup with higher flow injectors that's a good price.

If you hear '5th injector' mentioned, run a mile!

AdrianFRST, didn't really get a chance to go into proper talk about it cos i'd of been late for work! I'll find out tomorrow if a can.

Yeah, but i can't think where on a standard Si bumper you'd get mesh???

Thinkin about it, my engine does get hot, so maybe a small, different scoop would be good.

So going out an getting a full Evo 5 bonnet is not a good idea then?

I just want something that looks hard and nutty but not so much that people start to say "no no no!"

Smooth it all out, and create a scoop, which fits underneath the front bumper, and scoops cold air upwards, and into the engine bay.

Hey presto,
Smooth looking car,
Bad ass splitter.
Cool engine

One question...
Does the engine run any better or quicker (maybe) when its cooler? Bit of a stupid question but hey, when it comes to anything under the bonnet im a bit on the shallow side. :???:
Need more advice about the tuning side...
Cheers people!
