i have been considering buying a set of these for my xr2i, but apart from making the engine look nice do they enhance the performance of anything? any help is appreciated.

They will not burst/deform/deteriate like standard ones will, it depends on what the cars used for (Trackday/Daily driver) but people usualy fit them if there needed or for peace of mind.

Turbo'd cars mostly have them for obvious reasons but if you want to be safe and not have any risk of a burst water hose and you want to tidy the engine bay up then I think there worth while :)

Xfactor have a bit of a deal on btw ;)

i'm going to high jack this psot a bit but are these piper cross kevlar hoses as good as silicon and if not, will the difference matter much on a xr2i:

From my point of view. If you have to remove them constantly, they come off the pipes a gazillion times easier than rubber hose. And yeah... they look nicer, too. :D

Don't perish like rubber
Withstand hotter temperatures
Oil resistant
Handle higher pressures
Deform better
Look better.

They actually take on a charming pretty coloured snake like tendancy when they deform and are therefore obviously more attractive than their boring black counterparts. :)
