Trying to wire an amp up to my fiesta mk4, can't for the life of me work out how I get the power cable from the engine bay to the inside of the car... :-? Spent about an hour today in the dark trying to find where it goes, not quite knowing what I was looking for.... :(

I never knew how much use these 2 pictures would get

Battery wiring. Run the power cable from the battery (with inline fuse) towards the top right of your engine bay. You'll find that the rubber seal on the top of the firewall will come off, run the wire under this and replace the rubber seal.

Image

Use a stanley knife or similar to cut a small hole in this grommet (Top right of engine). Feed the wire through, if you have all the trim removed in the passenger side, you should (Your mate) should see the wire coming through from behind the behind the glovebox.

Then run your wires under the passenger side trim at the bottom of the door.

That doesn't make much sense, but I hope it gets the idea across.

Will give it a try tonight, thanks a lot...

That has to be the cleanest engine bay i've ever seen... Opened my hood for the first time in quite a while and found the rubber seal you mentioned loose behind the firewall!

Thanks a lot again

Most people say that, 8 years old :) There is dust behind near that grommet though which pisses me off

Good luck, I thought wiring it was a lot more daunting than it actually was. Also helped that I had a bit of a pro (Chop_suey) help out to put my mind at ease.

Dont forget to rub down to bare metal for your earth dont use it from the earth for the rear lights.

Remote lead is a blue colour cable that connects to your headunit so it turns on the amp when the headunit is on.

RCA leads keep away from your red power lead (can cause interference)

Now put the fuse in the red power lead at the end.

so theres no worries of popping the fuse.

Hope it helps

Ah goddammit. That would explain why I've just spent 4 ****ing hours in the pitch black trying to figure out why my amp wasn't working! :x

Didn't scratch down to metal for earth, and did use the rear light ground..

Where's the best place to ground it? The amp is in the top right of my boot (drivers side, as far away as possible from the back.... if that makes sense), and I only have a meter or so ground cable.

I've used the earth for the rear lights, it works fine for me. I put the amp earth ring terminal underneath the lights one so that the amp earth terminal is the first thin touching the bare metal.

Plue my RCAs are running side by side with the power cable with a bit of space in between, they are 4 guage cable and I get no interferance whatsoever :)

my RCA cables cost about £30 so I'd hope they wouldn't get interference, but still, I ran the remote & RCA on the drivers side now, best to be safe.

Cheers for all your help

Sand down to bare metal on the cars body then use a nut and bolt  srewed down nice and tight, i thought it made a dfference then using the earth from the rear lights. Ive also gotta earth strip(scrapeing along the ground from the rear panel screwed on the rear panel added a couple of volts dunno how, but its better earthed.

ive ripped out the carpet and underlayer cleaned and hovered the floor, laid all my cables, but still thinking to add another sub so ill need to lay a 5m power cable 0 gauge. or mabe use it for a battery and use a split charger. :D sounds much better.
