Slippery slope....

Okay then, For the time being my system is pretty evenly balanced. Speakers are getting a total of 120w RMS from the headunit, and 'bass' is handled by an SPLX sub getting around 100w RMS (rough guess).

In all truth, sound is loud enough and still pretty clear, even if the sub isn't that hard hitting.

I've won a kicker amp from ebay which is able put out 300w RMS  and plan to uprgrade the sub very soon too, (should be fun seeing what happens when SPLX meets kicker though).

I now get the feeling that this just drown out everything, so next i'll be tempted to amp my front components and rear coaxials, then maybe even upgrade them further to cope with increased power, and so it goes on....

I'd say rather being entirely SPL or SQ biased, i just want loud and clear in equal parts, not neccessarily in extremes.

Feel free to share your own experience, anyone who is seriously into car audio, or has expensive systems on how it came to be :Q. Feel free to reccommend me a sub too, i'm leaning toward JBL's ported GT4 in original JBL enclosure, Or should i stick with sealed?

how much do u wana spend on the sub mate? i would recommend a MTX 4512 if you wanna stay around the £100 mark or something a like 5512 if you want to go just over....

other recommendations are:

Pioneer 306C (will be underpowered)
Kicker CompVR (underpowered again)
Infinity Perfect 12.1 (about right amount of power)
JBL P1222 (underpowered)
JL Audio W1 12" (overpowering but that aint a bad thing!)

etc etc

check out http://www.caraudiosecurity.com for prices and if you do want something let me know and ill check if we have it in stock or not ;)

Do not worry about the bass being too loud...it can always be controlled and kept down, and i would recommend a PROPERLY built ported box...people say you lose the response and punchyness....i know different ;)

the fronts will require less power than the rear to sound just as loud and keep up with the bass as they are right next to you...so not too worry about the bass drowning out the treble...unless the front end is really poor!

anything else just ask mate :)
