Some questions from Brazil!

Postby sr.thiago on Fri Aug 05, 2005 12:12 am

First of all, hi everyone!

I'm from Brazil (BraSil actually) and i currently own a 1 Liter MK5 Fiesta Zetec with some few mods like lightened flywheel and some header work. 11.1 compression ratio @ gasoline.

I know that the 1 liter zetec engine is not a powerfull engine, and most of u guys will sugest an engine swap, but that's not possible at the moment.

Here in Brasil is extremely difficult to buy parts, and most of the parts that you import are expensive as hell.

Anyways, i was looking for something like a tutorial or a "how-to" explaining how to make a quick shifter for the Ford Fiesta. Or if u guys know any place that sells quick shifters for Ford Fiesta for under US$ 100,00.

Looking forward for your help!

(sorry about my baaddd english...as i'm from Brasil, my English is not 100%)

btw: Excelent forum! Congratulations!

We never got a 1 litre zetec engine over here. Do you mean the 1.25?

Alo Thiago como esta voce? Muitos saludos desde Argentina.

The engine Thiago is talking about is the Zetec Rocam 1.0. In Brasil 1 liter cars are very common. Also the Brasilians are mad since they put turbos even on blenders :bonkers: . Brasil is like a heven for speed ad big hp´s junkies.

Thiago, I saw that in England they can buy short shifters from B & M but for the Brasilian Real and the Argentinian Peso the change rate with the British Pound it is too bad. A short shifter will end up costing something like 800 Reais posted, which is a lot of money just for a short shifter. Maybe somebody that bought a shortshifter here coud take some pictures so you can get it made at a machine shop.

FedeArg :Zetec Rocam 1.0.

It's coming back to me now! I vaguely remember reading something about that engine.

Hey Fede! Como estas!?

Like FedeArg said, here in Brasil 1 liter cars are very, very common. Everything FedArg said is true.

I would really appreciate if someone here take some pictures of their short shifter, would help me a lot!

1 liter Zetec Rocam specs:

Zetec Rocam 1.0L 8 valve:
Peak Power - 65 cv @ 5.750 rpm
Torque - 8,9 mkgf @ 2.750 rpm

there is aload about it on here :-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Zetec ... etec-Rocam
seems a pretty neat engine,
chain driven lol thats unusual, I know the SR20DET is Chain driven, so its not that unusual.
