Sony MP3- iPod Compatible head unit
Hi everyone Just a quick one about car stereos; I currently have an archaic Sony 10 disc multiplayer and cassette head unit in my RS which was ok about 7 years ago but NOT now!
Like most other people I've got an Ipod 30Gb full of great tracks and want a new car stereo (preferably Sony) which links up to my Ipod, allowing me to choose any tracks I want when I'm on that long, boring drive back to work on a Sunday night!
I tried one of those little FM tuner thingys that links to the Ipod but It's not much cop really...
Cheers for any help/advice, Jim

Yeah, thats a good'un. I've got the model below that (without the ipod thing).. if you want to control your ipod tracks via the buttons on the stereo or on the remote you get with it.
If you're not bothered by that and are happy to control ur tracks from your ipod just get a lesser one with an Aux.
I plug my w800i into my aux, and it has 2GB of music on it. Works nicely. And i can kinda use it as a hands free too.
The USB input is quite useful too. You could put tracks on a usb stick or an mp3 player that you can connect via usb, and it will play the tunes.

I've got one of the ones with a USB port and just use the dock and my iPod shuffle on that. I like it 'cause all the tracks are mixed up by the shuffle. Just reads it like a PC would. Might not be suitable for lots more music though as you have to scroll through, unless the normal iPods store each album in it's own folder.
