Spacers and Longer Studs
Morning All,
Couple of quick questions:
Im geting kind of tired of my car looking like a 4x4, so.....i know i really need 40'' profile tryes to help achieve getting my car that little bit lower but laso i believe bigger spacers on the rear would defiantly help.
I currently have 5mm spacers all round, but hear a couple of people on here are running 25mm at the back and 15mm at the front!!
So my question is: how can i manage the same? i dont think i would need as big spacers, i reckon i could quite easily use 10mm all round. Can anyone show me what spacers to use and if i would need longer studs, if so what ones?
I.e - what company to get them from etc.
Hopefully if i can get this sorted by Ford Fair then the car will be there.
Many Thanks,
Ade

First of all.... what alloys are you running on (tyre size, alloy width.. and offset).. and what modifications are made to the current brakesetup etc.
why ? .. these factors are needed to see if spacing is possible.. and how much.
Some people use 25mm spacing.. but have alloys which require that much spacing to be fitted correctly (offset of 52.5mm for instance)
You could user WHEEL spacers, .. but you can also space out your axle(rear only).
The rear axle can be spaced using (and modifying) some axle space plates.
There are sold by your local ford dealer and can be obtained in sized 10mm, 12.5mm or 20mm thickness. (you should also need longer bolts to bolt the drumbrake back onto the axle)
That should cover the rear (after you know what spacing your car can have)
The front will be a whole other story ..
as with most wheel spacers from 5 or 10mm.. they lack a centre ring..
Using the 10mm spacers on a fiesta will result in a allow, which cannot be centrered on the hub.. causing shaky (and dangerous) rides..
To prevent this you could buy 16mm spacers (FK automotive) with centering ring. You need 16mm longer studs (compared to the ones you have now) when using these spacers (FK can supply them, but so can your local mod-shop)
When you space out the wheels .. you have a chance that catch the outer arches .. You can trim the arch kit a bit.. but don't cut the metal arch.. cause this is the only part holding the inner and outer arch together (arch strength)
well .that's about it (-:
hope you understand my writing .. cause english isn't my native language (so i could have written some odd words or centanses)

lol thank you Jur thats really helpful...
Tbh im only going to really space out the rears because they are about 5mm from my coilovers.. and ive already got 5mm spacers on, there is enough room between the arch and wheel if i was to do this.
Im also going to be putting some 195/40 profile tyres on which will help too. either that or stretch some thinner tyres on, euro style.
Im running a standered brake setup for my xr2i.
i have the mondeo 16'' five spokes, with an ET40. which are 6J i believe.

7j (-: imho
ET40 .. well then 5mm is the 'right' spacing to get them to look like ET35's (-:
get the 10mm axle spacing set. and fix it (-: it's an easy job and doesn't cost that must ..
the spacers need some modifications before putting them on, cause they were made for KA/puma/mk4 fiesta so the allignment of the holes is out.
Cut the horizontally and loose about 5mm ..
the spacers cost about 5 pounds each.. and the bolts.. another 10 pounds max.. ..
i don't have the finis numbers on here.... but try and use the search option.

a topic on our Dutch Fiestaclub forum, incl pictures..
http://www.fiestaclub.nl/ivpb/index.php?showtopic=3987
the finis codes (in holland)
1034012 Ford Puma axlespacer 10,0 mm
1033601 Ford Ka axlespacer 12,5 mm
1035739 Ford Ka axlespacer 20,5 mm
7392246 Ford Ka Bolts to suit (the 20,5mm spacer) M10 x 45
for usage on the mk3 fiesta.. they need to be cut horizontally (see pictures in post)
They also might need a little grinding on the edges (if used with e rs2000 brake setup)

I see on that link that you used the ka spacers but it says they are 10mm yet the finis code says they are 12.5mm...did you machine them down??
is there any difference between the ka and puma ones? can i not use the puma ones?
Ade
Sorry for all the questions mate.

you can use all of these..
I made a mistake in the other post.. they are the 10mm ones.. but those are the puma ones..
did not machine them down, just cut them in halves (-:
