I had an SPLX sub, was pretty decent in truth, nothing extreme but it came with the car so no complaints.

I actually ran it off a Kicker amp for a few days and it was pretty mental.

Depends what your looking for in your system, if it's just a little more bass then it will suffice, Would be wary of the speakers though.

SPLX are absolutely pants! Do not touch with somebody else's wallet let alone yours!
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

I wouldn't go for splx myself, my mate had some and they were ok but not the best.

For subs on a budget I found Vibe where good, not the best out there but good quality and a reasonably cheap price to go with them.

Basically no matter what your budget splx isn't the way forward.

your not running through an amp? :o are you being serious? so your just running it off headunit? i'm surprised your headunit hasn't blown yet, subs MUST be run through an amp

One thing i have noticed is that my my new JBL sub seems to hit notes that my splx simply couldn't. However i'm also using a ported box now as opposed to sealed.

Got some dirty looks the other day as listening to Domination by way out west as the lows were hit. at a fairly mild volume too...

[ERRR] they play louder and lower...IF built correcty adbuilt to YOUR music and subwoofer....jst any old ported box wont do the trick

to give u an example..when i had the 2 Pioneer 3004SPLs , EVERYONE was speechless when i open the boot to reveal 2 PIONEER subs - they dropped louder and lower than 2 kicker 15 L7s sealed!....and now i have 2 Orion H2 15's, the equivilant, i would say 4-5 15s!!

Tbh, i had splx stuff years back, i found it great value for money(i was not on much ££ at the time), its cheap and cheerful imo. For someone who wants one cheap sub and amp setup, they are ideal. :)

Whats wrong with JBL, I take it you make that opinion based on experience
Alot of people run JBL subs as a good budget sub, and in the right box they could hit some high numbers. Their amps are rated pretty highly, and a few people find them a good mate to the R.E. SE12 or Diablo db12.1

Also wondering what's so bad about about JBL, My entire system is JBL minus the amp which is kicker, and i'm quite pleased with it.

I run JBL 6½" 2 way sin the kick wells of my S2 and they just lack so much in the sound department my old Pioneer components were superb. Even the cheap Kenwwod components I've got in my A4 sound nicer

hi all im new to this forum and couldnt help letting you know what sytem i run i have had spl and jbl and at the time i thought they where sweet but i suppose you work your way up i am now running 2 x 15" db audio t-rex with a lanzar 1800d OMG awsome i had these beautys in a ka 1st but the box i had i couldnt fit in the boot so untill i made one i put them on the back seats with the amp in the boot and they rocked but when i was parked and opened the door i couldnt sit inside because it hurt my insides. i really rate these subs and amp and recommend them to anyone who wants serious bass but they are fairly expensive check caraudiocenter website.
